2020.10.01 20:36 goldenoden The experience of living together: question for couples who have closed the gap

Me (29M) and my girlfriend (28 F) have been together for almost 10 years now. 4 of those years around 2 hours apart, 6 of them separated by a continent. We originally met in the Philippines through school, and an education opportunity for me presented itself in the US. Wanting the best opportunity for my career and our future, I decided to take the opportunity. With heavy hearts, we decided to go long distance. She and I have been happily together this whole time; checking in with each other at least once daily in spite of the 15 hour timezone difference, scheduling online dates, making proper communication a high priority.
We both know we want to marry each other and have openly spoken about and have come to an agreement on all the topics that might come into play when we start living together: money, children, religion, career aspirations, communication and communication rules, relationship expectations and boundaries, intimacy, anything we could think of.
The outcome of being able to stay in one country was always going to be an issue for us: I have Philippine citizenship and she has Hong Kong citizenship. I've been trying to use my educational opportunity here in the US to pursue employment and a possible green card here, but I haven't had much success in that area, and the current political climate + the pandemic only made things more dire. My US student visa basically runs out early next year. Back in the Philippines there's not much waiting for me: no resources, no housing, and no direct family (only some distant relatives I'm not too close to). Because I'm a citizen there, it's going to be easier to get a job, but I'll essentially have to build my life from the ground up. My girlfriend has an established life in HK with family, friends and finances. We looked into the idea of getting a dependent visa in HK, and the options seems very viable in terms of resources required, time, and opening up the ability to find jobs in HK. So in terms of options of where we both end up:
My family respects that I'm an adult and can make my own decisions, but they're still skeptical of having me marry my girl and move countries. Their main concerns here surround the 'necessary marriage'. They expressed that we haven't had much experience living together, and that you can only learn certain things about your potential partner during that time. I understand their concern: if for whatever reason we ended up breaking up while I was in Hong Kong, I'd be in a very bad situation in an unfamiliar country thousands of miles away from any family or friends. Not to mention we'd be missing out on having a 'proper' ceremony, which my gf and I would honestly want to have, based on ideal circumstances.
In an attempt to ease their minds, I'm going to first attempt to apply for job opportunities in Hong Kong. Through that, my gf and I can have the experience of living together and deciding if we are still compatible. Still, nothing is for sure and I may run out of time to apply for jobs in HK before my visa here in the US ends.
I can't help but think internally that the dependent visa marriage is still the easiest and most sensible solution for us. Part of me can't deny that I miss my girl dearly every single day, and I'm eager for the chance to finally close the gap with her. She's lovely and beautiful and my best friend in the whole world.
If you've ready this far, thank you for your time. This ended up longer than I intended it to be. I wanted to ask if any LDR couples who have closed the gap could provide any insight on how closing the gap has affected their relationship, and if any other LDR has experienced something like this.
TL;DR - For couples who have closed the gap, I'd like to ask how living together has affected your relationship and your decision to stay together. If anyone has had similar experiences to mine, I would appreciate hearing about how you went about all this.

2020.10.01 20:35 DoubleCheesecake7 Moonlight Roller Quality+ Shipping Concerns+Skate Shops Getting Priority Over Customers.

A while back I created the timeline of Moonlight Roller's shipping history which you can find here. There is another post with a more personal breakdown of people sharing their shipping information in the comments here.
I am extremely upset that they didn't send out an update until AFTER I created this timeline post and people starting talking about it on the internet. It's almost like they never intended to give an update, and just felt pressured by the internet to say something. We are on day 9 of their 11 day delay, with skates being sent out the second and third week of October.
After digging around on the internet, I saw several posts that were disputing the quality of these skates, and I'm very concerned because I feel like the shipping time directly correlates to the quality in some of the extreme cases of bad skates being sent out.
The last and only round of skates that were sent out were delivered to their warehouse on July 22nd. This should have included 1500 pairs(500 each of the original colors) However later they referred to this as 15,000 pounds of skates, and emailed another person saying 15,000 skates. How many did they actually sell and ship out?
We recognize that they are a new business with a small team, so regardless of numbers, it takes time to inspect each skate, box orders, and sort shipping labels. Seeing the post on July 27th where they sent out "15,000 pounds of skates", I do not believe they even had time to inspect the skates, which is why they arrived with so many mounting issues. If this is how quick they turn around their skates with quality control in China, and in Tennessee, they might do the same thing just to get skates out faster.
I will include more examples as I come back across them, but people are comparing them to $30 to $100 skates on Aliexpress here, finding the manufacturer in mainland China(not Hong Kong as previously stated) here, and in general other concerns with the company and quality here. I'll have to take screenshots of the posts that I've been finding via Facebook and blur out the names/profile pictures, but I'm sure many of you have the seen the posts that I'm referencing too.
Now onto the the possible issue with the skate shops. We saw how Moxi screwed customers AND skate shops by not fufilling orders. I'm a little concerned that Moonlight either won't fufill these shop orders, or they'll prioritize them over their own customers.
I've seen several shops say they're partnering with Moonlight, including Pigeons, Medusa Skates, and a new one called OC Skate and Inline. I'm only going to be speaking on the last company as they seem to only be paired with Moonlight.
They put up a pre-order for all 7 styles on August 27th to the 30th, including Safety Dance, which ship early October. This has since been changed to late October, however they opened up another pre-order on September 11th to 28th, with delivery for November. They already had their first shipment from Moonlight delayed, I'm not sure what the upcoming shipments will look like.
I'm not sure why they are trying to fufill shop orders without delivering customer orders first.
Either way, I am exhausted trying to get these skates which I was extremely excited for. I'm thinking about cancelling more and more by the day, especially since I keep seeing more posts about the quality and lack thereof.

2020.10.01 08:22 DeliriousAnimation My take on why riot is currently placing so much emphasis on SEA CBT as compared to NA or EU region: the switch from Garena servers to Riot's personal servers

For the past 10 years, League of Legends servers have been run by Garena, a company based in Singapore and Malaysia with operational rights in Taiwan and Hong Kong (correct me if I'm wrong). Now, they want SEA players to create Riot accounts to access their new games, ie Legends of Runeterra or wild rift. Why? The logical reason will be that riot will want to have their new game on riot servers, instead of being run and independently managed by partners like garena. Hence, they're building their own SEA servers from scratch, and need heavy stress-testing to ensure that their new servers can cope with traffic. On the contrary, NA, EU servers are managed by riot, so their verified to be able to run on their own and can cope with high traffic
Tldr: Riot's creating their own SEA servers and need to stress-test it

2020.10.01 06:19 Robert_de_Saint_Loup We should China annex Taiwan in exchange for surrendering Hong Kong to ourselves and UK

Regarding this bickering between China and its neighbors, I believe that we (the West) should allow it to annex Taiwan and do what it wants with it in exchange for surrendering sovereignty of Hong Kong.
An alliance with Hong Kong is much better than an alliance with Taiwan, let us not forget that we had a strong deal with Hong Kong for decades upon decades and the business ties were much stronger. Hong Kong has done much more for us than Taiwan and now their power is slowly being diminished. More and more companies move out, go bankrupt, or get bought by the Mandarin speaking Han Chinese community. And they are also big partners of our partners. The British. Together, we can have a triple alliance which is much better than one with Taiwan.
We should take note of how awful this is but due to our limitations on options and lack of power to send a military force there to take HK and clear it of Chinese influence, we should instead make a deal with them whereby we swipe support for Taiwan and just let them snatch it in exchange for control of Hong Kong. Seems fair to me.

2020.09.30 18:14 cpthegame Started a Small Business During Covid

Hi everyone!
We are three best friends that started a card game company during covid 19. Two of us are unemployed and one of us is working full time while also working on the business. When we first got started we originally thought that to create, design, and publish a board game would only take us possibly a month. As we begun to actually work on the business we soon learned that a month was literally "shot out". Anyway, we persevered, we figuered that the game is extremely fun and entertaining so we continued.
Here are some of the problems we ran into:

Here is how we tackled these issues:
Moving forward: We ordered our games from Hong Kong, they are coming soon. We are partnering with local board game cafe's and leaving our prototypes there so we can send people there to try the game.

Check out our video we just made for our game https://youtu.be/-FDBFQDo9Tw .
If you have any questions for us please ask. If you want to see where we are right now here is our website capitalpunishmentgame.com and here is our instagram.com/capitalpunishmentgame

We would love to talk to you guys if you're willing to talk to us.

2020.09.29 01:31 BigDraco007 Anyone living in US with a S/O living in the Hong Kong/China area?

I (25M) currently live in LA & I met mt now GF (24F) this past summer as she was visiting family in LA from HK this summer. She had to go back to Hong Kong on Sept. 6 & it's been pretty rough ever since. We had around 4 months with each other prior to her leaving so we spent a fair amount of time together. I plan on going to Hong Kong to visit her as soon as possible but between covid & the tension between US & China, its been very hard trying to pin a for sure date of when we will see each other again. We plan on living with each other by next September but I'm afraid that US will no longer let China citizens then & vica versa. This is my first relationship & I really love this person. If there's anyone in this subreddit in my shoes, please tell me how you cope with the uncertainty of travel & covid as well as the possibly of ur partner losing interest over time? I have bad anxiety & I overthink this alot so just would like to hear others' take on this.

2020.09.28 23:18 JusepTorrente COVID-19 DANGEROUS ARCHIVE (DEEP WEB) IT CAN BE REAL OR FAKE (I ONLY FIND INFORMATION)

For the past few months, Yan Li-Meng (閻麗夢), a virologist employed as a researcher at the University of Hong Kong's School of Public Health when the coronavirus pandemic began, has been alleging that the coronavirus came from a Chinese lab and that it is a chimera based on the "Zhoushan bat coronavirus." According to Yan, an examination of the genome sequences released by the Chinese government on Jan. 14 also shows that the Zhoushan ZC45 and ZXC21 strains are the closest to SARS-CoV-2 and that they are the "backbone" upon which COVID-19 was constructed.
In August, Yan claimed that she and her team had produced a scientific report that shows the origin of COVID-19 is the "PLA-owned Zhoushan bat coronavirus." She stated that she planned to release the report in the near future, and accused the World Health Organization (WHO) of "covering up numerous lies for the CCP."
On Monday, Yan released the report on the data platform Zenodo with the title "Unusual Features of the SARS-CoV-2 Genome Suggesting Sophisticated Laboratory Modification Rather Than Natural Evolution and Delineation of Its Probable Synthetic Route." Zenodo is a general open access repository developed under the European OpenAIRE project and operated by the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), allowing researchers to store data, software, reports, and any research-related tools.
In the abstract, Yan's team pointed out that despite the fact that COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) has claimed the lives of over 900,000 people and devastated the global economy, the origin of the virus remains a mystery and highly controversial. The theory that the virus originated in nature is widely accepted, despite the lack of solid evidence, while suggestions that the disease may have come from a laboratory have been strictly censored from scientific journals, according to the report.
The paper pointed out that the biological characteristics of SARS-CoV-2 are not consistent with a naturally occurring zoonotic virus. The researchers assert that the genomic, structural, medical, and literaty evidence presented in the paper strongly contradicts the natural origin theory.
As previously mentioned by Yan, the researchers claim that evidence provided in the report point to the ZC45 and ZXC21 bat coronaviruses as the model or base for the chimera that became SARS-CoV-2.
Furthermore, the authors postulate that the steps needed to produce the virus synthetically in a laboratory can be achieved in "approximately six months." The scientists then call for an independent investigation into China's virology laboratories, particularly gain-of-function research carried out at the Wuhan Institue of Virology (WIV).
In Part 1 of the paper, the scientists provide evidence that the SARS-CoV-2 was subjected to in vitro manipulation. First, it states that the genomic sequence of the virus is strikingly similar to that of a bat coronavirus found by People's Liberation Army (PLA) labs in the Third Military Medical University in Chongqing, China, and the Research Institute for Medicine of Nanjing Command in Nanjing, China.
Second, it shows that the receptor-binding motif (RBM) found in the virus's notorious spike protein is "suspiciously" similar to SARS-CoV from the 2003 SARS outbreak, indicating it was genetically modified. Third, the spike protein of the virus contains a unique furin cleavage site that is "completely absent in this particular class of coronaviruses found in nature," while the rare codons seen in this sequence suggest that it could have been inserted into the genome artificially
Regarding the "Zhoushan bat virus," the team wrote that ZC45 and ZXC2 have the highest sequence identity with SARS-CoV-2. In terms of similarity between ZC45/ZXC2 and SARS-CoV-2, the genome is 97 percent identical, the nucleocapsid protein is 94 percent identical, the membrane protein is 98.6 percent identical, and the S2 portion (2nd half) of the spike protein is 95 percent identical.
The paper emphasized that the Orf8 protein is 94.2 percent identical, while the E protein is 100 percent identical. The Orf8 is highly unusual in coronaviruses, while no other known coronaviruses share 100 percent of the E protein with SARS-CoV-2 besides ZC45/ZXC2.
The study excludes the RaTG13 virus submitted by WIV scientist Shi Zhengli, also known as "Bat Woman," because recent research has shown that its spike protein cannot bind to the angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) of two types of horseshoe bats, the alleged natural host, indicating that it may be "fabricated to shift the attention away from ZC45/ZXC2.
In Part 2 of the paper, the researches describe how SARS-CoV-2 could be designed and "created conveniently" in laboratories using the ZC45/ZXC2 viruses as the backbone. The scientists postulate that Step 1 consisted of replacing the RBM with a "designed and possibly optimized RBM" using that of SARS-CoV as a guide to enable it to bind with the human angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (hACE2).
The authors pointed out that Shi, along with long-term partner and structural biology specialist Fang Li, had successfully modified the RBM in this way. The report estimates that this first phase would take about one and a half months.
Step 2 would consist of engineering a furin cleavage site at the S1/S2 junction of the spike protein. According to the researchers, this short stretch of gene sequence can be "conveniently inserted" using a number of standard cloning techniques, such as "QuikChange Site-Directed PCR60, overlap PCR followed by restriction enzyme digestion and ligation91, or Gibson assembly."
The authors stated that none of these methods would leave any trace in the sequence. This further modification of the spike, including the furin-cleavage site, could be completed in "no more than two weeks," according to the report.
Step 3 could be carried out simultaneously with the previous steps and would consist of acquiring an ORF1b gene that holds the RdRpgene segment from RaBtCoV/4991, a bat coronavirus discovered in 2013. The authors believe that that the Chinese virologists wanted the RdRp protein either to ensure that the resulting chimera would be classified in different groups/sub-lineages than ZC45/ZXC2 in phylogenetic studies or to test antiviral drugs.
Step 4 would involve using reverse genetics to produce the chimera and recover live viruses within the course of two weeks. The authors cited an example of how a Swiss team was able to reconstruct the entire SARS-CoV-2 genome using transformation-assisted recombination in yeast within a single week.
Significantly, this method has been available since 2017 and "would not leave any trace of artificial manipulation in the created viral genome." The paper also mentioned that the WIV has used alternative methods of reverse genetics in the past.
Step 5, and the final step in the process, is to optimize the virus for its hACE2 binding affinity (ability to infect humans) with experiments on live animals. This normally consists of infecting rodents, such as hACE2 transgenic mice (hACE2-mice), with the virus and extracting the highest viral load from 10 to 15 rounds of passage to obtain the strain with the optimal hACE2-binding affinity.
However, the authors of this report postulate that the Chinese scientists failed to use a "proper animal model" when testing the transmissibility of the virus. If they had, the scientists say the highly contentious nature of SARS-CoV-2 would have been obvious and the early claims of "not causing human-to-human transmission" would have not been made at the start of the pandemic.
The researchers suggest that "extensive laboratory-adaption" geared toward augmented transmissibility and lethality "may have driven the virus too far." The scientists believe that the virus might have lost the "capacity to [attenuate] both transmissibility and lethality during its current adaptation in the human population," as evidenced by the lack of attenuation by the virus despite its extensive spread globally and the emergence of a variant with "improved transmissibility."

2020.09.28 14:37 Show_My_Rice Hololive Moments' community post

Dear viewers, we will stop updating and private all our videos. We are not pleased with Cover’s announcement regarding the punishment for Coco and Haato on Monday. The punishment is unfair which is too heavy for Haato and too light for Coco. Cover didn’t understand the influence Coco created and showed no professionalism in solving related problems. We are very upset and confused by Coco’s reaction to her violation of the streaming agreement. Her violation created several bad effects: 1. Hololive’s proxy-streams are forced to stop. 2. Many Hololive talents’ income got impacted significantly. 3. It jeopardized Hololive’s business relationship with Bilibili, which caused a huge financial loss for both Bilibili and Cover. This may influence all future business collabs. 4. Thousands of content creators were disappointed and chose to leave the community. Still, we hope Cover could solve the problem properly. However, the announcement on Monday proved that Hololive has no interest in changing anything. Time to time, their announcements are all the same and it clearly demonstrates they have no idea what is really going wrong. Our Chinese members (including all our members from Chinese Hong Kong and Chinese Taipei) are disappointed with Coco and Cover who ignore China's territorial integrity and the feeling of Chinese viewers. We are disappointed because of Coco's negligence in her colleague’s career. We are also disappointed with Cover, who repeated the same mistake over and over again and showed little evidence about improvement. Thus, Hololive Moments will stop updating and private all our videos before Cover could make an announcement that satisfied all of us. And now, we need to give a shout-out to our Bilibili friends who have suffered so much discrimination and they need the respect they deserve. Hololive Moments is created and helped by thousands of fans from Bilibili, those creators are our most important partners, and we value them more than anything else, even over the VTubers themselves. When all the content creators got upset about the fact that they weren’t getting the recognition and respect they deserve, it’s on us to ensure their voice is heard. We demand their effort to be recognized, and their hard work to be respected. Yes, this is closely related to you, because many contents you see here and on official Hololive channels are created by fans from Bilibili. Many of them have decided to leave the community due to the disappointment, and it’s a loss to the entire community. Additionally, many VTubers’ intro and outro are made by Bilibili sub teams, for example, Pekora’s outro, Ayame’s intro, etc. We’ve run this channel for 10 months and are more than grateful to have so many fans and quality Hololive content on our channel. However, without the contributions from our friends from Bilibili, there is no way we could make this far. Without their trust in us, there’s no way we could share these great original artwork and meme videos with you. They deserve more recognition and respect, and this is why we are giving a shout-out for our friends. More than 2 years ago, after the Hololive First Gen debuted, volunteer fan sub teams appeared on Bilibili. Hololive noticed the sub teams and authorized them as official sub teams. The official sub teams never get paid but worked diligently to help to spread Hololive to more audiences. Now, the Bilibili sub teams have had a complete system for every Hololive vtuber. They have been translating clips and even full streams of the girls. Meantime, artists on Bilibili have made many high-quality fan art videos and PVs with millions of views. Bilibili company further invited Hololive to do more commercials in Azur Lane, Bang Dream, etc. From which we can see a strong connection. Bilibili and the fan community kept on helping Hololive to get popular, which helped tremendously in the early years. For example, in the biggest Japanese anime-con Nico Nico Super Kaigi 2019, Bilibili gave Hololive the chance to be on their stage when Hololive was too tiny to get its own booth at that time. Here’s a clip for that event. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XX2lz... Financial income from Bilibili(data) With the sub teams’ assistance, Hololive Btubers, such as Fubuki, Matsuri, Haato, and Aqua, went viral in Bilibili. During a period, their Bilibili income surpassed the super chats from YouTube. (For example, during May 2019, Aqua received approx 5.3 million yen from Bilibili, while her superchat on YouTube at the same time was around 3.5 million. During the three-months period when Aki got demonetized, Bilibili donation was her main source of income) The incident and the consequences Bilibili’s tolerance is limited, three strikes and it’s an out. Asacoco on 9/26/2020 is the fourth time Hololive runs into the issue. You can find the previous violations in the appendix. Cover was given a long time to address the issue since their 2nd violation, but yet it happened again. In the 9/26/2020 Asacoco, Hololive vtuber Kiryu Coco violated the rules agreed by Bilibili and Hololive. Her following unprofessional responses have further provoked the anger of the Bilibili users and have led to a number of detrimental consequences to the entire community: 1. Hololive stopped all proxy-streams as a protection move. 2. Aki, Aqua, Suisei, and Matsuri’s Bilibili-exclusive streams got canceled. 3. While Coco’s income from bilibili is insignificant(0.7%) to her, Bilibili donation plays a much larger part for many other Hololivers. It’s unfair for other hololive members to receive such losses because. 4. It hurts Bilibili fans’, especially the official sub team members’ feelings. Many have quit translations and fan art productions. 5. It jeopardized Hololive’s business relationship with Bilibili, which may force Bilibili to cancel the future collaborations with Hololive. It caused a huge financial loss for both Bilibili and Cover. We may no longer see Hololive Collabs in Azur Lane or Arknights in the future. 6. Content creators are disappointed by Coco, Kiryu CoCo Official sub team and fan sub team Kiryu-Kai have disbanded themselves. Kiryu-Ka was the most iconic unofficial sub team in Bilibili. They uploaded 475 videos in the past 4 months. However, they don’t exist anymore. Hololive and Cover had made a number of mistakes in management, and these events made us lose faith in their management team. We’d expect things to go better at that point because they’ve promised to enhance the communication between the company and the sub teams, but little has changed since. More than 2,000 translators, editors, and artists are working in the official sub teams without pay since Hololive officially started their business in Bilibili, but without the respect they deserve. When such issues came up, Cover made insincere apologies, and their sub team was left to deal with the rages. Hololive didn’t even pay attention to protect their own streamers. Mel, one of the first Hololive streamers, had to stop streaming for half a year without explanation because of intracompany harassment. Her physical address was leaked and she kept on receiving harassment letters. After Hololive found the stalker, he received no punishment except being transferred to another department. Such measures have shown that Hololive lacks the ability to help their streamers out of trouble and unable to treat their employees fairly. When they got into legal issues with Nintendo, all Nintendo videos from Hololive had to be removed almost immediately. Thousands hours of hard work and millions of comments vanished, and there were no signs to recover. It angered thousands of contributors, and it makes them to once again question Cover’s legal department. It shouldn’t end up like this when everything could have been avoided in the first place. It’s an awkward moment for many of us, and many of my friends are questioning themselves about whether or not they want to continue making subs and arts. What they asked for is very basic. They just want to hear “thank you” from their favorite streamers. They should deserve better. Appendix I: Hololive’s history of Violations At first, streaming on Bilibili was simple, VTubers were allowed to directly stream to both YouTube and Bilibili at the same time. However, there were constantly people intentionally bringing up anti-China issues in chats and then reporting their channels on Bilibili. Bilibili had no choice but to ban their channels for weeks. This happened to people in Hololive, Nijisanji, and many more. In order to protect the VTubers, from that point on, only proxy-streaming is allowed on Bilibili and YouTube chats have to be covered. Hololive first encountered this issue in early 2019 when someone used a super chat in Aqua’s stream to say illegal messages in the stream. Aqua soon realized the problem and apologized. This time her channel was banned for a week as protection. She was still invited to future promotion events by Bilibili, and no one blamed her for her mistake. When it comes to 2020, the world becomes more chaotic. Hololive had gained much popularity. While the fanbase has expanded rapidly, more and more people are seeking the opportunity to take it down by trying to get them involved in sensitive issues. From time to time, political traps appear in super chats and questions collected from the audience. On June 12th, a question from the audience sneaked on Choco’s channel, listing Tibet as an individual country. This caused her channel to get banned. Cover made an apology and promised such mistakes should never happen again. Most streamers were very cautious about it like professional idols, they spotted hidden traps in many questions regarding sensitive issues around the world, and avoided those issues nicely. But this is not the case for Coco. Coco once got banned on YouTube for discussing Muslim related contents. Cover then announced that they would need to check Asacoco content before it was streamed, but it was turned down by her fans, claiming it’s an interference of streamer’s freedom and individualism. In fact, she kept using jokes on drugs, which is an extremely dangerous topic in many places in the world. Coco’s negligence caused the entire Hololive to be banned on Bilibili, and it scrapped the promise Cover made in June. Appendix II: VTuber earnings on Bilibili https://vup.darkflame.ga/ranking/mont... Appendix III: Bilibili Fan’s experience Fans in China don’t get many connections with the VTubers. Since most of them can’t watch streams on YouTube, Hololive provided an alternative way to watch streams through proxy-streaming. Their donations don’t get read, VTubers don’t react to their chats, those member limited streams and contents are not available to them, and the creators’ hard work rarely gets recognized. Hundreds and thousands of fans are working diligently in sub teams to translate hours of streams and tweets every day. When it comes to bigger events such as 3D debut or new skin reveal, tens of people work together to translate the full stream in a couple of hours. But a lot of their hard work never gets recognized. Bilibili exclusive streams are the only chance for the fans to connect with streamers and show them the wonderful arts and memes they made. Yet, such exclusive-streams don’t happen regularly. Some do it a few times a month, and some never did one. Yes we call Yagoo best girl, but we don't know if Holo is now managed by him since he'd said he will focus on holostars and INNK. We have been tired to believe Yagoo. We’re tired. Not anything else, just so tired to love hololive. Same to tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of holofans who come from "somewhere does not exist in the world". Some people may be extremely angry and do something, but more people just so tired and left in silence. Yes, it’s about you! Back in late 2019 when English sub videos of Hololive are few on Youtube, we decided to spread the joy of Hololive and to show the charm of Hololive girls to the English community by starting this translation channel. When the BiliBili translation community heard our plan, they were glad to provide help and share their resources with us. Even though few Youtube viewers will notice their hard work and those videos will be posted on a website they can’t access themselves, they seldom complain but focus on helping the Hololive English community become stronger. In the hardest days when we lack manpower, their help supported us to maintain daily updates. Hololive Moments 2019.12.16~2020. 9.28

2020.09.28 12:03 samsassistant A stronger and more autonomous European Union powering a fairer world - Speech by President Charles Michel at the UN General Assembly

Full speech:
I speak to you today on behalf of the European Union. A Union founded, like the United Nations, on peaceful cooperation, human rights and fundamental freedoms. We are therefore an unwavering supporter of the United Nations. And of the international organisations to which we join forces for human progress.
This is precisely how we are working with the WHO to defeat Covid-19. Like the whole world, Europe has been hard hit by the pandemic. In the European Union, more than 142,000 people have lost their lives. I salute their memory, and all the Covid-19 victims worldwide. I also pay tribute to all the healthcare professionals that have safeguarded the fabric of our societies.
The crisis caused by the pandemic is unprecedented. It has exacerbated the weaknesses of fragile countries, regions and populations. It has also revealed the fragility of countries that thought they were strong. It has thrown us all into the same sudden battle, against the same common enemy.
The European Union, for its part, has been at the forefront of international cooperation which has raised nearly 16 billion euros to finance the research and the deployment of vaccines, tests and treatments. And we are mobilized, alongside all the players involved, to ensure that these vaccines and treatments are universally accessible and affordable.
Each nation and each leader has the duty to reflect on the best way to contribute to our common objective. This is true in the fight against the current crisis, as in all global challenges. Kofi Annan said: "To become a good citizen, start in your own community!" It's in this vein that I want to explain why the European Union wants to become stronger and strategically autonomous, alongside an open market. Stronger not only for itself. But also to better contribute to a better world. The crisis has made this goal even more essential. It has awakened a new collective responsibility, to build back better and greener…
Before the crisis, Europe had already embarked on a path of fundamental transformation. For example, by deciding to become the first carbon-neutral continent by 2050. Or by adopting an ambitious digital agenda, in line with our fundamental values.
This pandemic has increased our determination to transform our economies and societies tenfold. 540 billion euros have been mobilized for urgent measures from the outset. Then, in July, the European Council decided to mobilise ambitious and unprecedented financial resources: more than 1.8 trillion euros for the coming years, including 750 billion euros raised via the issuance of European Union bonds, unprecedented in its nature and size. With this historic decision, we have come together, united and strong, to better assume our responsibilities.
Responsibility begins by seeing things as they are, and not as we would like them to be. In today's world, the abuse of force, both military and economic, too often supplants argumentation and negotiation. Respect for treaties, a basic principle of international law, comes to be considered optional even by those who, until recently, were its historical guarantors. All this in the name of partisan interests.
More than ever, the European Union is defending the rules-based international order and cooperation based on universal values. The European Union wants to be stronger, more autonomous, and firmer, to defend a fairer world. And it is in this spirit that we lead the implementation of the Paris Agreements. And that we have already integrated the objectives of the 2030 Agenda into our system of economic governance.
We are now developing these values and this open model with greater awareness of our strength, with more realism, and perhaps less naivety. We have faith in the virtues of free and open economies, never in protectionism. But access to our large market - the second largest economic zone in the world, and the first in terms of international trade - will no longer be sold off. From now on, we will better enforce the level playing field, in a market open to those who respect its standards. Whether they leave our Union or want to move closer to it.
The European Union is also committed to advancing overall tax fairness, in particular in the digital sector. Large-scale activities carried out in this area can no longer escape fair taxation. The European Union is committed, alongside the OECD and the G20, to international cooperation to correct this injustice.
The European Union is an actor for peace and progress, which wants to mobilise its influence and strength to make others more robust as well.
We support the six partners of the Western Balkans in their transformation and integration. We have reaffirmed their European perspective. And we have just decided to open accession negotiations with two more countries among them: Albania and the Republic of North Macedonia.
Through the Eastern Partnership, we are developing our relations with six countries in our neighbourhood. Notably with a view to strengthening institutions and the rule of law. In Belarus, the last presidential election was falsified. We do not accept the results. And we condemn the violent repression of the opposition and of peaceful demonstrations. Repression and intimidation must stop, and all those responsible must be held accountable and sanctioned. We stand with the Belarusian people who must be free, without any external coercion, to choose their own future. Inclusive national dialogue, with OSCE facilitation, is the only realistic path forward.
Fighting impunity also means demanding an independent and credible investigation when the Russian opposition leader Navalny is the victim of an assassination attempt with chemical weapons.
The European Union is also on the side of the Venezuelan people. That is why we are working with the International Contact Group for a peaceful and negotiated solution that must include free, credible and fair elections.
The relationship between Europe and Africa will, I am sure, be the backbone of a fairer and stronger world. Together, we represent some 80 nations and 1.7 billion citizens in this Assembly, the vast majority of whom are among the youngest on the planet. Our two continents have never been so interdependent, for better or for worse. To acknowledge this is neither sterile Afro-pessimism nor naive Afro-optimism. It is to recognize that this interdependence is also a calling. It is to recognize that a strong Europe needs a strong Africa, and vice versa. The potential is huge. Investing, innovating, developing infrastructure, promoting education, supporting health systems: this is the key to forging a mutually beneficial partnership. Let us get inspired by the power of the African concept of Ubuntu: the way of thinking that my humanity is inextricably linked to yours, our destinies are linked, and our individual actions succeed only if they make sense for the common good. This principle of Ubuntu is also the reason for my renewed call to settle the question of debts of the poorest countries, in a spirit of solidarity, that also takes into account the effects of the pandemic.
The European Union is concerned about tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean. Unilateral actions and violations of international law must absolutely stop. Together with our Member States, we are undertaking intensive diplomatic efforts to defuse tensions and to promote dialogue. In this spirit, I have proposed the organization of a multilateral conference on the Eastern Mediterranean, in conjunction with the United Nations. Many actors have already responded positively and are ready to discuss the modalities, the agenda and the timetable. Maritime delimitations, security, energy issues, and migration are some of the topics that I believe should be addressed.
We also support the efforts of the United Nations, and where involved, regional organizations, like in Libya or Syria.
The Iran Nuclear Deal remains key for global non-proliferation and regional security. It is therefore essential to preserve the JCPOA and for all parties to fully implement it. The agreement endorsed by UN Security Council Resolution 2231 remains in place and for us there is no doubt that the sanctions lifting commitments under the agreement continue to apply. While we strongly support the preservation of the Iran deal, we continue to firmly address other concerns, such as the domestic and the regional situation.
We also welcome the start of intra-Afghan negotiations and will support a lasting peace.
In a tormented region, the issue of peace between Palestinians and Israelis remains more timely than ever. We must continue to support the legitimate aspirations of both parties. And we remain firmly committed to the two-state solution. We will spare no effort with our international partners, including the Quartet, to facilitate the return of Israelis and Palestinians to the negotiating table, to find a negotiated solution within internationally agreed parameters. For our commitment to international law and UN resolutions is unwavering. At the same time, we welcome Israel's rapprochement with countries in the region as a positive development for peace and stability in the Middle East.
Since I became President of the European Council, I have often been asked a question that is both simple and brutal: "In the new rivalry between the United States and China, which side is the European Union on?" My answer is the following...
We are deeply connected with the United States. We share ideals, values and a mutual affection that have been strengthened through the trials of history. They remain embodied today in a vital transatlantic alliance. This does not prevent us from occasionally having divergent approaches or interests.
We do not share the values on which the political and economic system in China is based. And we will not stop promoting respect for universal human rights. Including those of minorities such as the Uighurs. Or in Hong Kong, where international commitments guaranteeing the rule of law and democracy are being questioned.
China is a crucial partner in addressing common challenges, such as global warming, Covid-19 or debt relief in Africa. And China is also an important trade partner. Yet we are determined to rebalance this relationship towards greater reciprocity and fairer competition. A spirit that we are also cultivating with ASEAN members, with which we will continue to deepen our relationship.
We stand on the side of the fundamental values of democracy, human rights, the rule of law and cooperation. It's our compass to pursue our interests. The European Union is an autonomous force, master of our choices, master of our destiny.
Finally, on behalf of the European Union, I want to reaffirm this essential conviction: there can be no progress without progress in women's empowerment. Discrimination against women remains one of the major obstacles to development. We must fight this relentlessly. Equality between men and women, as well as the protection of diversity, particularly sexual diversity, remains one of the major challenges of our time.
The European Union will continue to be a driving force for multilateralism and the rules-based international order. Our support for the UN remains as strong as ever, and we will continue to support the implementation of the Secretary General's reforms. Because we need a strengthened and effective multilateral system. This requires an even stronger UN to deliver results that advance world peace. Europe, stronger and more resolute, will be at your side to make the world a better and fairer place to live. Thank you.

2020.09.28 08:01 autotldr Trade to human rights: Trajectory of Trump’s China policy China News

This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 78%. (I'm a bot)
From slapping tariffs on hundreds of billions of dollars worth of Chinese imports to curbing the global might of Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei, declaring Beijing a currency manipulator, and effectively forcing China's ByteDance to partner with US companies to keep TikTok US up and running, the Trump administration's China policy has used economic pain as a cudgel to try and create an edge for the US. Human rights appeared to only marginally factor into this transactional approach.
A man holds a sign during a rally to show support for Uighurs and their fight for human rights in Hong Kong Together, these actions have kept the spotlight on Trump's increasingly hostile approach to China in the run-up to the November 3 election, as he seeks to depict his opponent, Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden as weak on foreign policy, generally, and China, in particular.
Bolton wrote in his recently published memoir the president had been uninterested in the plight of China's Uighurs, preferring to take a soft line as he tried to broker a resolution to the trade war with Chinese President Xi Jinping and boost Chinese imports of US goods to curry favour with US voters.
Under the "One China" policy, which the US has acknowledged since 1979, Beijing views Taiwan as part of China.
Once in office, Trump declared trade wars to be "Good" and launched his with China, levying tariffs on Chinese goods that prompted Beijing to slap retaliatory sanctions on US goods - actions that have damaged both economies.
Democratic US presidential nominee and former Vice President Joe Biden long pursued the line that the US did not regard China as a competitor, though analysts say the pandemic has changed his approach Biden had long pursued the line that the US did not regard China as a competitor, though analysts say the pandemic has changed his approach.

2020.09.27 04:30 fluffyjess Rescue dog prefers to stay home

Hello! I’ve recently adopted a 5yo rescue (12.6kg) and we’ve been bonding very well for the past 2-3 weeks. She’s generally quite nervous and shy but has warmed up to me and allows me to pet/cuddle her (not my partner though, it’s about a 50/50 situ).
Her previous foster had her for a month and couldn’t get her to go on walks at all (she’s a vet too!). My rescue and I have our first vet visit together coming up in 2 weeks (it’s literally right below my apartment building) but I don’t want to spook her by forcing her out to the vet the first time we head out so I want to take her out a few times around my area first. I bought an easy walk harness (with hopes that it’s easier to control) and have been putting it on her for about 30 mins - 1 hour at home so she can get used to it. She’s still working on it but because I live in a small apartment in Hong Kong, there’s limited space in which she can walk around.
I plan to take her out at night where there are less cars and people around our area but i also want to try out getting her into our car, going to a dog park during the day. Is it too early to do so if she’s afraid of the outside?

About Inflazome
Inflazome is a biotech company leading the development of orally available drugs to address clinical unmet needs in inflammatory diseases by targeting inflammasomes. Inflammasomes are understood to drive many chronic inflammatory conditions, from Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s to asthma, inflammatory bowel disease, chronic kidney disease, cardiovascular disease, arthritis and NASH. Inflazome has a portfolio of orally available small molecule NLRP3 inhibitors, with lead molecules having successfully completed Phase I clinical trials, as well as several high potential earlier-stage programmes.
Inflazome has raised €55m in Venture Capital financing from leading investors Forbion, Longitude Capital, Fountain Healthcare Partners and Novartis Venture Fund.
Inflazome is headquartered in Dublin, Ireland.
About the NLRP3 Inflammasome
Activated NLRP3 acts as a ‘danger sensor’ in the body to release the pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-1β, IL-18 and induce uncontrolled, lytic cell death (pyroptosis). These processes lead to chronic inflammation, and as such, NLRP3 has been implicated in a large number of diseases.

2020.09.25 18:51 kjonesatjaagnet Ant Launches Business Trade Blockchain in Run-Up to $35B IPO

Ant Group has launched a cross-border trading blockchain platform as it prepares for what could be the largest stock market flotation of all time.
Ant said Friday that its new trade platform, called "Trusple," will make it easier for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to sell their wares to clients overseas.
Built on AntChain, Trusple automates key aspects of the payments process, such as order placement and tax liabilities.
This makes cross-border trades feasible for entities that would otherwise struggle had they used legacy systems, according to the firm.
Ant has partnered with the likes of Standard Chartered, Deutsche Bank and BNP Paribas to help "optimize" the process.
The news comes as Ant continues to stoke up investor enthusiasm for its upcoming dual initial public offering (IPO) next month in Hong Kong and China's tech-focused STAR Market.
The company, a sister to Alibaba Group, is looking to raise a record $35 billion, surpassing the $29.4 billion Saudi Aramco raised last December.
Ant – last valued at $200 billion – is best known as the operator of Alipay, one of the two primary payment apps used China.
But the firm has an increasing presence in the cryptocurrency space: Chinese shipping giant Cosco has trialed AntChain to speed up the documentation process and Ant is believed to be one of the primary issuing partners for the upcoming digital yuan.

For those missing the broadcast, Mr.XT has compiled the content for everyone~ Let’s get a review~
Host: Dyma Budorin Hacken CEO
Guest: Weber WOO XT.COM CEO
Dyma:Please introduce yourself a little.Where are you from? When were you involved in crypto?
Weber:Hello Hackeners. I am Weber Woo from the XT.COM exchange. I am glad to be invited here to share something about the XT exchange, XT team, and also myself. I am from Shanghai, China. When I was studying MBA at school in 2012, I read an article in Business Week about Bitcoin being very popular in Iran. Because of sanctions, many Iranians bought bitcoin to transfer their assets to overseas. That was the first time I heard about crypto.
Dyma:What experience do you have in crypto? Trading? Mining? Investing? Holding? Only positive experience or negative, too?
Weber:I will talk about my experience in Blockchain, and also my team.
In 2013, after my friends involved in Bitcoin, I also started to pay more attention to it. We began to mine Bitcoin.
From 2013-2016, we are more focused on mining and trading. We have 100,000 mining machines in our mining factory, located in Yunnan, Sichuan province in China. Of course, most of them are owned by our customers.
At the end of 2016, we started our mining pool business. Our mining portfolio included BTC, ETH, ETC, ZEC, SC, DCR. We had 5%of ETH computing power at the peak.
At the beginning of 2017, we invested a crypto exchange in China. But it was stopped in September 2017, because of China's new policies.
In the middle of 2018, we started the XT exchange in Seychelles, headquartered in HongKong.
Dyma:Have you ever been hacked?
Weber:I've never been hacked directly But lost my Bitcoin from the MT. Gox hack in 2014. That taught me a lot to keep crypto-assets safe.
The MT. Gox incident also reminded our team and me to take security measures very seriously when running the XT exchange.
Business
1.We know that XT has more than 1 millionn global users. You might have a big team. How many people? What idea does unite them?
Currently, XT has more than 80 employees comprised of the C-level team, technical developers, marketers, and business developers. More than 40% of our team have Postgraduate educational background. Our team comes from previous companies like Alibaba, Tencent, China Unicoin, Bosch, LG, and more.
Everyone on the team has a high level of understanding of what opportunities blockchain can and does provide for the world.
2.XT was introduced in 2018 — just in the beginning of crypto winter. Was it hard to start in such conditions? How did you motivate yourself and your colleagues?
Since XT started in a bear market, it was easier for us than other exchanges to stay agile and motivated.
We continued to grow our team and focus on building an exchange that protects its users and listens to what they want.
Understanding that just like any market, crypto goes through market cycles too. We stayed motivated and focused on being ready for the next bull market.
We already spend seven years in the blockchain industry. The bear market is an excellent opportunity to start a new business to save costs and talent recruits.
3.Is it really hard to be a Chinese crypto exchange nowadays?
As I said before, the XT exchange was registered in Seychelles, headquartered in HongKong. We are not officially a Chinese crypto exchange.
Half of our users are from other global markets than China. We are the most popular in Korea and Japan.
Of course, Crypto is still very popular in China, especially recently, with the rise of DeFi. Investors are smarter than 2017, but everyone is excited about all the new blockchain space developments.

4.Are your developers working on some new features? What should we expect?
Currently, XT is working on bringing new features to the exchange.
XT is the first social infused exchange that launched a Group Trading function in the BiYong App. BiYong is a social application focused on the Chinese market.
BiYong has more than 5 million users in total. We are the only partner for BiYong in Group trading. Users can trade within the social chatting app together as a collective.
I want to share some benefits for Group Trading.

https://preview.redd.it/4ephtzbcv8p51.png?width=753&format=png&auto=webp&s=191ca9c7e4d294159347d549b6ecd8cdb66ebbfe
This is how Group Trading typically works.

https://preview.redd.it/50opietbv8p51.png?width=753&format=png&auto=webp&s=aaddfb7071da6cb75f249927bbd8ae3591b39793
XT.com is launching a DEX.
We will launch DEX in quarter four this year. The product is still developing, so I cannot share more about it. We are glad to share it when it's ready.
Crypto future
1.Do you think the crypto winter is over?
With everything going on in the world currently, it is difficult to predict the future. I believe we are now in a bull market cycle, but things can change very quickly. We see different lengths of bear markets in the space as it grows. We must all pay attention to the trends and proceed accordingly.
2.Do you believe in the DeFi’s potential to make mass adoption closer? Why do you think it is so popular today?
The rise of DeFi has been incredible this year. Projects like LINK, UNI, YFI caught the attention of millions. The technology for real use cases has been implemented, and there is a real opportunity to get in on the ground floor for eager investors.
With the recent airdrop from Uniswap with their new token, UNI has only driven interest within the DeFi space. I believe it will take time, but DeFi is here to stay regardless if the market decides to cycle again.
We can see DeFi Locked Value in the past three years in the following pic. It's popular and here to stay.
https://preview.redd.it/utk4j4aav8p51.png?width=753&format=png&auto=webp&s=6a9d785c7e854ecc258c2c75f2458b5eceff20ac

3.What could you advise your users? What are the main risks in trading and investing today?
I advise anyone trading or investing in crypto to be smart.
The crypto market is a very volatile place. Using good risk management is critical to ensure the security of their funds.
Do not put all your eggs and one basket and only invest what you are willing to lose would be my recommendation, especially when it comes to altcoins.
I think that Bitcoin and Etheruem are the best low-risk long term investment options.
So I suggest you can divide your investment into 3 sections. For example, 40% in BTC and ETH, 30% for Top 50 altcoins, and 30% for HIGH risk projects if you are willing to take the risk.
We can see the risk from this picture.
https://preview.redd.it/8j9hvng5v8p51.png?width=753&format=png&auto=webp&s=e2ea47fa1cae0940e80048405d064d7726e6c6dc
4. What are your and your company long-term plans? Where will you be in 5 years?
Regarding the market, XT will continue to grow as we expand to more world markets like Europe, SE Asian, South Asian, and South America.
For compliance, we already had our MSB license approved in the US and will apply for more in different markets in the future.
On the business side, we will still focus on mining and the exchange. Of course, our CEX and DEX will be our primary focus in the years to come.

2020.09.24 21:07 Startropic1 The Megalist

Here is our comprehensive list of every single mecha anime (and some Tokusatsu) series, OVA, & movie ever made:
Important note about Korean works: Korean animation developed a bit late, and Japanese anime had been banned in Korea up until the late 1980s. Due to this fact, combined with the art form being in its infancy in Korea, many older Korean works were blatant knockoffs of Japanese works. These works also typically received extremely poor quality translations if they were translated at all. By the late 1990s Korean animation had finally established its footing and put out better quality and more original content. The best example of this known to english speaking regions is Iron Kid, known as Eon Kid in english. We encourage the embrace of more modern Korean animation, but take heed of this history when exploring the Korean works of old.
Other terms:
Hentai - This is the term for pornographic anime. While it is extremely rare for a hentai title to be released in the mecha genre, such titles do exist. In the interest of completion we have included these select few titles in the megalist, but they are appropriately noted as such. Viewers be advised.
HK Subs - Subtitled in english by english speaking regions in Asia, usually Hong Kong. These are typically lower quality due to the translators not being native english speakers or in some cases limited knowledge of english. The worst cases of these are found on bootleg DVDs which are very prevalent in some Asian countries outside of Japan.
HK Dub - On some occasions anime was dubbed in english in english speaking regions of Asia. These usually suffer the same problems as HK subs. The most infamous example is the english dub of Transformers Headmasters and Victory.
Fansub - Fan subs are usually good quality subs created by fans for anime that has never received an official license for release in the english speaking western world. A very large portion of the megalist is unlicensed, particularly anime from the 1980s or older. If an anime does get licensed, its fansubbing project will be halted. Official licenses is the universal goal for all the anime we cover.

Wong Kar-wai Has Written a Chungking Express Sequel
Reports have surfaced from many Chinese media outlets (via Reddit) that Wong Kar-wai has scripted a sequel to his beloved 1994 romance Chungking Express. Titled Chungking Express 2020 and set in Chongqing in 2036, the China Film Administration approved the script back in April, which means it can move ahead. Here’s a brief synopsis:
In 1990s Hong Kong, the lovelorn Policeman No. 223 encounters a blonde female assassin. They only spend a short time together overnight. The Policeman No. 663, getting over a failed relationship, has his life gradually changed by a “dreamer” who broke into his apartment.
In Chongqing in 2036, young Xiaoqian and May are unwilling to be matched with their genetically-assigned partner, and are determined to find their own “destiny.”
