Boomstick Gaming - Deadite AGK - 7.4 / 10
Taking a Card to a Dragon Fight
Destructoid - Chris Carter - 8 / 10
The thing is, I would have played SteamWorld Quest for 40 hours, flaws and all. It's brief in more ways than one but charming as hell. I hope Image & Form continues to make games and, to go one step further, never stops creating SteamWorld experiences.
Easy Allies - Michael Huber - 7 / 10
SteamWorld Quest offers accessible card-based battle systems and lovable characters to scratch that RPG itch.
Eurogamer - Christian Donlan - Recommended
A card-battling RPG enlivened with wit and character.
Game Informer - Daniel Tack - 8 / 10
Cobbling together the right assortment of cards, combat, and characters is fun. However, shortcomings in progression, story, and complexity create a sterile experience
GameCynic - Damien King - 8.8 / 10
Carefully tuned combat, a surprisingly tactical deck building system, and charming characters combine to make a fantastic adventure that's well worth picking up — and hard to put down.
GameSpace - William Gallon - 8.5 / 10
All in all, SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech is a very good, if short, game.
GameSpot - Alessandro Barbosa - 7 / 10
SteamWorld Quest's accessible take on card-based combat is undermined by an uneven difficulty curve that frustrates more than it encourages.
Gamers Heroes - Johnny Hurricane - 8 / 10
SteamWorld Quest is a solid RPG that contains a number of interesting ideas and packs the charm of the other SteamWorld titles. Fans of RPGs or SteamWorld games should give it a go.
GamesBeat - Jeff Grubb - 85 / 100
I never should have doubted Image & Form, and I hope the studio knows that my expectations are now sky high for whatever it does next.
Gaming LYF - Charles Tyldsley - 4 / 5 stars
Priced at $24.99 / £22.49, SteamWorld Quest provides brilliant value for money. The genre blending turn-based RPG meets card game mechanics serve as a refreshingly addictive change of pace. It's all wrapped up in a polished, quirky and light-hearted adventure featuring fun characters and a beautiful hand-drawn art style. The game is a blast from beginning to end, and is well worth your time and hard earned cash.
GamingTrend - Bryan Lawver - 80 / 100
Steamworld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech is a creative infusion of card-based combat with a traditional RPG. It plays entirely unlike any other card combat game, and it's worth a look even for those who don't generally like the genre. While it's light on story, less replayable than other card games, and could use some refinement when it comes to building decks and equipping characters, it's still a fun twist on a familiar concept that's easy to recommend.
God is a Geek - Nick Gillham - 9 / 10
A delightfully whimsical steampunk-RPG romp and you'd have to be malfunctioning to miss out on it.
Handsome Phantom - Ben Smith - 10 / 10
SteamWorld Quest is a marvel in its own right, and a victory in a genre full of eternally popular bestsellers and beloved franchises.
Hardcore Gamer - Jordan Helm - 4 / 5
When taken as an overall package, there's no getting away from expressing how brilliant and addictive the card-based approach to RPG combat is here.
IGN - Tom Marks - 8.6 / 10
SteamWorld Quest's card-based RPG combat offers an insane amount of choice, making it as flexible as it is fun.
Jogazera - Renan Pessolano - Portuguese - 8.5 / 10
SteamWorld is a series that is constantly toying with differente genres and the new entry, SteamWorld Quest makes an awesome mix of turn based combat from RPGs and deck building form card-games.
Nintendo Enthusiast - Miguel Moran - 9 / 10
Despite a few issues with map design and clunky dungeon controls, SteamWorld Quest is a gem of a game, and a must-play for anyone with a Nintendo Switch.
Nintendo Life - Gavin Lane - 8 / 10
Remarkably solid and satisfying, SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech is a card battler with an abundance of charm in its art, mechanics and writing. The presentation is slick, the dialogue's witty and the gameplay's addictive, although nothing about it feels particularly special – not in the way SteamWorld Dig 2 felt special. It does what it does well, though, and it's still a thoroughly enjoyable time in that universe. As long as you're not expecting anything revolutionary, we recommend anybody who likes turn-based battling or who enjoyed any previous games in the series check it out.
NintendoWorldReport - Jordan Rudek - 9 / 10
Outside of the Colosseum challenges and the three difficulty modes (Squire, Knight, and Legend), I don't see much of a reason to return after completing the game, but I found the length to be just right. My time with SteamWorld Quest was thoroughly satisfying, and in between playing lengthy Final Fantasy ports, I was glad to have a more compact experience close at hand. Rather than running out of steam, Hand of Gilgamech plays its cards rather perfectly.
RPG Fan - Jonathan Logan - 80 / 100
SteamWorld Dig 2 took everything great about the original and improved upon it. Let's hope the same happens with SteamWorld Quest, should it get a sequel.
RPG Site - Josh Torres - 7 / 10
Image & Form's latest SteamWorld entry dips its toes into the realm of RPGs as it delightfully integrates a deck-building card game into a turn-based RPG.
Screen Rant - Niv M. Sultan - 4.5 / 5 stars
SteamWorld Quest, a card-based RPG, is an all-around pleasure: challenging but not too complicated, accessible but not too simple, fun at every point.
Spaziogames - DottorKillex - Italian - 8.4 / 10
If you like turn-based RPGs or card games, or both, then you can't go wrong with Steamworld Quest hand of Gilgamech, a funny romp thorugh a gorgeous (albeit small) world. Another enthralling game from Image & Form.
Switching Worlds - Hooshan Torabi - 9 / 10
Image & Form continues to impress. When tackling other genres and adding their own flare they never cease to amaze me. SteamWorld Quest is a properly balanced RPG whose visual and audible are equally beautiful with the humor and charm that you know and love. It's a straightforward, more linear journey and that's okay because some games should be especially when there's wiggle room for discovering secrets. Play times may vary between 20-30 hours and upwards 40 for those truly committed. It's a nice dose of an RPG that is just downright fun to play. Its formula now has me wanting to see what more can be done.
TechRaptor - Dan Hodges - 9 / 10
SteamWorld Quest may be Image & Form's finest game yet, presenting a charming tale and a nuanced combat system wrapped up in a wonderfully cohesive style.
The Digital Fix - Seb Hawden - 9 / 10
If you like turn-based RPG’s or card battlers you will adore this game. If you like both of these genres you may as well stop reading and go buy Steamworld Quest now.
The Games Machine - Stefano Calzati - Italian - 8.8 / 10
SteamWorld Quest is a delightful and epic parable about heroism and the ease of forgetting about it in times of peace.
Twinfinite - Andrew McMahon - 4 / 5
Even if you’ve never played a SteamWorld game, SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech is the perfect place to start.
USgamer - Nadia Oxford - 4 / 5 stars
SteamWorld Quest is a diet RPG, but it still contains plentiful portions of Image & Form's unique charm and humor. Its card-based battle system is engaging, and you might find yourself enjoying it a lot even if you're not a big fan of digital card games. Expect a straightforward journey that ends much sooner than most RPGs, but maybe a 15-hour quest isn't such a bad thing in a genre that keeps piling on 100-hour epics.
Video Chums - A.J. Maciejewski - 6.9 / 10
SteamWorld Quest may feature a charming cast of characters and an enjoyable battle system but its overall lack of variety and drab dungeons make it a tough game to universally recommend.
We Got This Covered - 3.5 / 5 stars
SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech is a funny, charming deck-building RPG that laughs in the face of fantasy and adventure tropes. In the end, though, the game falls victim to repetitive gameplay and ends up overstaying its welcome.
Worth Playing - Chris "Atom" DeAngelus - 9 / 10
Steamworld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech is an excellent addition to the Steamworld lineup and a fantastic game on its own merits. The story is simple but charming, and the gameplay alone is strong enough to carry players to the end. The sheer amount of customization and variety in character builds and combat offers a lot of enjoyable content to players both casual and hardcore. If you're a fan of RPGs, then you should try out Steamworld Quest. It's one of the most enjoyable indie titles on the Switch to date.
pressakey.com - Tim Bissinger - German - Recommended
SteamWorld Quest is another showcase for the creative talent at Image & Form who have crafted yet another charming robot adventure in a new genre, that, once again, manages to entertain with lovely characters, strong gameplay systems and slick presentation - even though the freshness wears off after a while of playing as the game relies a bit too heavily on its card-based battles and deck building.

We Got This Covered - Todd Rigney - 4.5 / 5 stars
Although almost every single mechanic in the game feels eerily similar to the Monster Hunter series, God Eater 3 manages to stand on its own (monstrous) two feet thanks to some incredible combat and a surprisingly engaging story.
Heavy - Elton Jones - 8.8 / 10
God Eater 3 is easily the best entry in Bandai Namco’s monster hunting franchise.
PlayStation Galaxy - Christian Pepito - 8.8 / 10
God Eater 3 is tons of fun with stunning new visuals, new weapons, new foes to face, and more. The game will even get more content in the coming months with the scheduled updates coming. This is definitely a must buy for a fan of the series. Players who are new to the game might enjoy it as well.
VGN - Alessandro Palladino - Italian - 8.5 / 10
God Eater 3 is a blast. It has all the charisma of an action-packed anime and the gameplay that we all know and love. It is a great restart of the series, which proves that this franchise could work very well on home consoles, maybe even better than its portable predecessors.
PlayStation Universe - Garri Bagdasarov - 8.5 / 10
God Eater 3 is a shining example of a sequal improving in almost every way. For thos looking for a more story driven alternative to Monster Hunter World God Eater 3 is may be your game.
Just Push Start - Mark Fajardo - 4.25 / 5
God Eater 3 might not be perfect but it's a lot of fun. The new gameplay mechanics make for a faster experience, something that works really well in this world, along with enough depth to keep players interested. By retaining some key elements, such as guns, power ups from enemies, online multiplayer and crafting, there is more than enough to keep most people interested for a fair amount of time. When you consider there is also a rather interesting, albeit anime-esque, storyline, it makes for a fine adventure. Sure, it isn't perfect or going to beat Monster Hunter: World but there is more than enough to have fun or join others in overcoming some obstacles.
God is a Geek - Mikhail Madnani - 8.5 / 10
God Eater 3 does enough to push the franchise forward with new mechanics, improved visuals, and slick animations but is held back a little by annoying camera angles and some poor environments.
GaminGuardian - Alberto Morales Palencia - Spanish - 8.1 / 10
God Eater 3 have an interesting story about the moral turpitude of the humans, as well as better graphics than the other God Eaters, some additions to the gameplay and the most important, a fantastic soundtrack.
Digitally Downloaded - Pierre-Yves Lanthier - 4 / 5 stars
While there are a lot of standard features for its genre, God Eater 3 is far from standard. Where once this was one of the genre's pretenders, sitting quietly on handheld consoles and developing a small, but dedicated audience, it now looks like Bandai Namco has a series that belongs with Toukiden and Monster Hunter at the very front of the stage.
PlayStation LifeStyle - Lucas White - 8 / 10
God Eater 3 definitely has a tougher barrier of entry compared to last year's Monster Hunter: World. Most of that is due to complexity; God Eater 3 has tons of combat mechanics, a weird, jargon-filled narrative, and just generally a lot going on at once. However, it also doesn't have a lot of the same heavy preparation and survival vibe of Monster Hunter, so it's really more about mastering the action than micro-managing your inventory and outsmarting behemoths.
Areajugones - Cristian M. Villa - Spanish - 8 / 10
God Eater 3 stands as the first pure experience of the God Eater franchise away from the handheld consoles. In the end, it turns out that Shift did a really good job with a game that cherishes its characters as well as its possibilities in the battlefield.
Attack of the Fanboy - Jelani James - 4 / 5 stars
It doesn't use the transition to modern consoles fully to its advantage, but with plenty of man-eating Aragami and action that is simply exhilarating to participate in, God Eater 3 is an Action RPG that's good as a snack, and even a three-course meal once future content arrives.
The Games Machine - Danilo Dellafrana - Italian - 7.8 / 10
God Eater 3 isn't quite polished like Monster Hunter World, but it surely is the best alternative to Capcom's videogame.
Everyeye.it - Antonello Bello - Italian - 7.8 / 10
God Eater 3 is still a must for fans of the saga, which after many remastering will finally have something new on which to vent their hunger for divinity
Spaziogames - Adriano Di Medio - Italian - 7.7 / 10
God Eater 3 is a good hunting game, altough not a perfect one. The RPG structure focused on equipment and allies' growth allows to stage great hunts against giant monsters in a post-apocalyptic world. It is also possible to share everything both on single and online playing. By the way the game mantains its historical flaws such as being repetitive and running with a very raw graphic. Old fans will immediately feel at ease, but newcomers will have to take some time to ponder and get used to the system and narration proposed by the game.
Cerealkillerz - Gabriel Bogdan - German - 7.5 / 10
God Eater 3 manages to fix some shortcomings of its Handheld predecessors but doesn't deliver the technical jump with the current console generation you would have expected, which goes through everything from the dull leveldesign to bad voice acting. Fans of the series will still get some fun out of the challenges in the multiplayer, assault and endgame missions.
DualShockers - Michael Ruiz - 7.5 / 10
Although God Eater 3 boasts some stellar gameplay mechanics that allow you to play how you'd like, the surrounding aspects keep it back from being otherwise a great game.
CGMagazine - Remington Joseph - 7.5 / 10
God Eater 3's main draw is its flashy action, but only occasionally brings real challenge along with it
Push Square - Robert Ramsey - 7 / 10
God Eater 3's another frenetic action RPG where the enjoyable rhythm and flow of combat is enough to outweigh most of the negatives. Whether you're up for a lengthy session or you're just stopping by to farm some materials, the game's easy to sink your teeth into, and there's plenty to chew on should you find yourself hooked thanks to the in-depth character progression. While more could and probably should have been done to bring God Eater's visuals and cumbersome menus up to speed, there's still plenty of skilful hack and slashing on offer here.
Wccftech - Dave Aubrey - 7 / 10
While God Eater 3 has its share of problems, it's still an incredibly fun action RPG that I found myself playing for hours on end. While it's not quite up to the quality of Monster Hunter World, it's worth playing for fans of anime aesthetics and JRPG tropes.
Hobby Consolas - David Martinez - Spanish - 70 / 100
We love some aragami and weapon design, but gameplay gets too repetitive and character progression is too complicated.
RPG Site - 7 / 10
While far from perfect, God Eater 3 combines many engaging elements resulting in a game worth your time
Hardcore Gamer - Chris Shive - 3.5 / 5
God Eater 3 is a good if unremarkable title in the monster hunting subgenre.
IGN Middle East - Zaher Albalbisi - Arabic - 7 / 10
God Eater 3 is a fun game but lacks anything new and different from the previous installments, the fast action fight system is fun no doubt but proved to be outdated and limited, the design is OK at it's best, and the story is probably the worst.
IGN Italy - Marco Esposto - Italian - 7 / 10
Technically outdated, God Eater is still a funny game, perfect for old fans.
Game Rant - Joshua Duckworth - 3.5 / 5 stars
God Eater 3 offers a heart-warming story and solid combat befitting the game's genre, but it does little to make itself stand out in the field of the JRPG.
COGconnected - James Paley - 68 / 100
Quote not yet available
Cultured Vultures - Stephen Wilds - 6.5 / 10
Take a bite out of godlike monsters in this post-apocalyptic action RPG. The greatest enemy may not be the Aragami, but a stagnated system and potential fatigue instead.
Game Revolution - Tyler Treese - 3 / 5 stars
In a perfect world, God Eater 3 would have been a leap in quality similar to Monster Hunter World and had been the big coming out party for the series. Sadly, that isn’t the case here at all. Instead, fans got more of the same with little innovation and the extra difficulty feeling more artificial than interesting. All in all, Marvelous’ first attempt at making a new God Eater title is just fine. It won’t wow any new players, nor will it feel like such a departure from what made players fans in the first place.
IGN Spain - José Cabrera - Spanish - 6 / 10
The new episode of God Eater saga has good ideas, taken from the best games of the genre, but poorly implement.
Impulsegamer - Tory Favro - 2.9 / 5
Rough and wordy, God Eater 3 is not an improvement on its predecessor
Player2.net.au - Stephen del Prado - B
It is an extremely competent entry to the genre but still falls back on some handheld design principals that I would have liked to see it shed in favour of larger areas to explore and more varied mission types and goals.

God of War is an excellent game that has evolved and with a great quality in every aspect. The game feels more mature, profound and solid than we have ever seen in the saga. Its gameplay is still dynamic and its story will keep us in the edge of our seats from beginning to end. However, it lacks magic in some moments and has a few repetitive bosses, which does not allow this game to reach the perfect score.
Atomix - Alberto Desfassiaux - Spanish - 97 / 100
One of the most ambitious and well done video games ever made. God of War is almost the perfect evolution that the Hack & Slash genre needed.
Attack of the Fanboy - William Schwartz - 4.5 / 5 stars
God of War has seen considerable changes from previous games in the series, but they almost all feel like they were for the better.
AusGamers - Steve Farrelly - 9.8 / 10.0
I was always a critic of a Greek god being in an entirely different realm with different rules. I thought for sure the game was just using Kratos and the God of War IP to get it over the marketing line, but I've been proven massively wrong. This is a God of War game, and it's fucking brilliant. It has old-school game-design coupled lovingly alongside a modern storytelling tilt, and it marries the two in a contemporary and meaningful way. And playing on PS4 Pro on a setup like my Samsung QLED 65" Q8C with HDR, it just screams quality. God of War is back with one of the most rewarding experiences on the PlayStation 4 to date.
Cheat Code Central - Lucas White - 4.5 / 5.0
God of War feels ambitious in the best kind of way: the messy kind. It's not afraid to get its hands dirty digging at something it thinks is interesting, while knowing it might not find it at that moment. It's fine with not telling you everything, or with dialing back on the usual tropes of loud music, brutal violence, and hamfisted emotional manipulation. Sometimes, God of War just wants you to take some time and think about how you feel, and compare notes with Kratos as he struggles through his trauma to relate to his kid. And sure, sometimes you beat group of monsters to death by juggling them in the air with a magic axe and a pack of wolves made of lightning fired from a bow. It's still a video game about a violent, hulking bald man, but it's thoughtful and, most importantly, genuine.
CNET - Jeff Bakalar - No Score
God of War now sits on a short list of elite PS4 company. It will forever be a challenge to talk about the platform's best without mentioning its name. Truly, this is the type of game that comes along maybe twice a console generation.
COGconnected - Patrick Anderson - 95 / 100
Rest assured that another hallmark of the series, visceral combat, is also back and better than ever.
Critical Hit - Alessandro Barbosa - No Verdict
There's much more on the road ahead, and God of War is very good at sinking its hooks in deep from the outset. Its world is one rich with lore that makes up many journal entries and exciting finds, but its story of compassion and family is what's driving Kratos and his son forward. It's a fascinating dynamic to see slowly build, propped up by some clever environmental puzzles and (so far) exhilarating combat. There's a lot more to see here, but God of War makes a powerful first impression.
Destructoid - Chris Carter - 10 / 10.0
God of War is a different game for a new era of the medium. While I'm a sucker for more frantic arcadey action there are plenty of studios left carrying on that legacy. Unless something catastrophic happens to Sony Santa Monica, there's more story to tell, and I hope the exact same team is able to tell it.
Digitally Downloaded - Brad L. - 4.5 / 5 stars
God of War on the PlayStation 4 has taken me completely by surprise. As a game that follows on from the old games, but somehow turns it completely on its head and makes it a world worth investing time into feels almost like a miracle. It is one of those games that takes Norse mythology as a core idea and treats it with respect, while also integrating it seamlessly into the story and making it important to the narrative. I have a newfound interest in learning more about Norse mythology, and it truly makes a game special when it encourages the player to learn more beyond the scope of the game itself.
DualShockers - Giuseppe Nelva - 10 / 10.0
Cory Barlog and his team managed to reinvent the wheel, and while they added more pieces, it rolls smoother than ever before, providing the best God of War experience of the history of the franchise.
Easy Allies - Michael Huber - 10 / 10.0
God of War doesn't just feel like the next step for the franchise, but the entire video game industry. Phenomenal visuals, rewarding exploration, and a deep nuanced combat system contribute to an epic adventure that should be experienced by every human on Earth. Santa Monica Studio is taking us all to Valhalla.
EGM - Nick Plessas - 9.5 / 10.0
A fascinating story, sublime mechanics, and a beautiful world come together in an experience that is about as confident of a step forward as the God of War series could make.
Eurogamer - Christian Donlan - Recommended
Despite eye-catching changes, the heart of this series remains gloriously unaltered.
Everyeye.it - Francesco Fossetti - Italian - 9.5 / 10.0
God of War has changed. This new Nordic chapter transforms the series into an impressive action/adventure, rediscovering the value of exploration. Yet the soul of God of War is still there: and emerges, in all its imperious power, during the brutal fights and the violent clashes. As the main story progresses and the optional contents unfolds, God of War affirm itself as one of the most dense, surprising and rich adventure of the last three generations.
Gadgets 360 - Rishi Alwani - 10 / 10
All said and done, Kratos' PS4 debut is, if you'd excuse the pun, a god tier affair. Fan boys may deride the lack of spectacle and its nuanced take on a well-loved protagonist may not be for everyone, but its rare to see a reimagining to a series handled as deftly and with such polish and care.
Game Informer - Joe Juba - 9.8 / 10.0
An enthralling experience from beginning to end, with a mixture of great narrative moments and engaging encounters. God of War is a well-paced adventure that knows when to let the action simmer and when to make it boil over
Game Revolution - Jason Faulkner - 5 / 5 stars
The graphics, sound, combat, world, and plot all come together to make an exquisite package that is a prime example of why games are art and God of War is right up there with the best films and novels when it comes to storytelling. If you have a PlayStation 4, you should play God of War. If you don't have one, you should consider getting one to play this game. God of War has a great story and sets a new level in almost everything: from epic boss battles to the world building. And if you haven't bought a PlayStation 4 Pro with a 4K TV yet, now it's the right time to do it, if you want to see the peak of what entertainment industry of the 2018 can offer.
GamePro - Ann-Kathrin Kuhls - German - 93 / 100
Successful overhaul: God of War manages balancing modern action rpg features and classic GOW feeling.
Gamersky - 不倒翁蜀黍 - 9.7 / 10.0
God of War is a successful reboot of one of the most brutal hack-and-slash action games, and it's remarkable, fun and still uber-violent. The core gameplay has changed a lot, and Santa Monica did take a risk that won't appeal to some orthodox God of War fans. But all in all it turns out that those new game mechanics are so well-crafted and of course it's a great progress.
GamesBeat - Mike Minotti - 90 / 100
This new God of War takes a lot of risks. It trades blind rage and revenge for a story about a troubled fatheson relationship. It ditches fast, combo-based violence for something more methodical. It's a departure from everything that once was God of War.
But almost all of these risks pay off. God of War is an exhilarating, beautiful action game that turns one of PlayStation's biggest icons into a character you can care about.
GameSpot - Peter Brown - 9 / 10
God of War is every bit the over-the-top action game you expect, but it's the story and setting that end up stealing the show.
GamesRadar+ - Leon Hurley - 5 / 5 stars
One of PlayStation's finest moments, Kratos has been reimagined for a new audience while keeping the best bits of what originally made him great.
Gaming Nexus - Randy Kalista - 9.5 / 10.0/)
This is a skull-smashing story about making mistakes and taking responsibility. While hacking and slashing their enemies, a father and son build bonds of love and loyalty. God of War is a minor masterpiece.
GamingBolt - Aaron Main - 10 / 10.0
God of War is a phenomenal effort by Sony Santa Monica, one that needs to be experienced by every PS4 player out there.
GamingTrend - Ron Burke - 100 / 100
It's very rare that a game grabs me this completely, but God of War is, without a doubt, an early contender for Game of the Year. It's flawless in its execution, and the new benchmark for action titles. Well done, Santa Monica Studios, and thanks for taking us on this entirely new adventure.
Giant Bomb - Dan Ryckert - 5 / 5 stars
Sony Santa Monica makes us care about Kratos in this stunning revival of the series.
God is a Geek - Chris White - 10 / 10.0
One of the best games on PS4, and one of the best games of this generation. A masterpiece.
Guardian - Keza MacDonald - 5 / 5 stars
Kratos returns older and wiser, but exhilaratingly brutal in a story that deftly intertwines family drama and mythological epic
Hardcore Gamer - Kevin Dunsmore - 4.5 / 5.0
Vengeance may not be what Kratos seeks anymore, but that has done little to stop the God of War franchise.

God of War very effectively achieves its mission to be a good reboot of the saga and a good sequel. We had to wait 5 years to get a new episode of the God of War franchise, but it was worth it. After getting lost with its previous episode, the serie returns to the top, which it has already known in the past. Managing the father-son relationship works great and Atreus is more than just an awkward NPC. All the elements of the puzzle fit perfectly and naturally to offer a memorable adventure that proves that risk taking can pay off. Even if he loses some of his excessiveness, Kratos has never been so indisputable in your library. It is impossible to miss this God of War if you own a PlayStation 4, the game takes a clear lead over the competition for the title of the GOTY 2018.

God of War is all you can ask from a new game in a franchise; very high production values, charismatic characters and satisfying combat, visceral with no lack of action. However, this is accompanied by a very well-told story, excellent animations, a very interesting new universe, fun gameplay and a new partner that develops a very promising personality. You can feel the dedication and care that Santa Monica Studio put into every frame of this game. Despite going in a new direction, God of War somehow manages to feel familiar and it is the worthy beginning of a new saga that surely has a lot to give us in the future. This is a very carefully made game that will certainly help define this generation and that is nothing short of a masterpiece.

God of War takes a classic franchise and reshapes it into the modern fold. The end result is a dramatic, polished, visually impressive and somewhat by-the-numbers PS4 blockbuster that slots along nicely beside the other exclusives in the console's library. It has plenty of content and fairly robust combat to entertain newcomers, while fans of the original games will likely enjoy the second half of the adventure a bit more.

God of War is an epic reboot of an epic franchise. The evolution of Kratos could have gone horribly wrong. Instead, Santa Monica Studio has given the franchise the treatment it deserves. This new narrative tone has heart, and serves to make Kratos much more relatable in his new role as protector, while remaining as brutal as past installments. Reworked and improved combat options make for an enjoyable and customizable experience, and phenomenal audiovisual performance ensures that each trip to the mythical lands before the Vikings is a wonderfully grisly experience. God of War is a must-buy experience well worth the wait.

God of War is a special game. This reimagining of the famous PlayStation franchise elevates the series in unexpected ways, without forgetting the core tenets that made Kratos a fan-favourite to begin with. This is a sprawling single player epic with an abundance of secrets and a storyline that keeps you hooked from start-to-finish. While it borrows liberally from other action adventure greats, its unique combat and outstanding artistic direction separate it from its immediate peers. A truly impressive achievement.
Saudi Gamer - عصام الشهوان - Arabic - 10 / 10
This is a bigger, deeper and more mature God of War and one of the best reboots and a successful new beginning. A denser and richer world, a heftier and deeper fighting system and a multi-dimensional story, while maintaining the series' stunning visuals and art direction, epic soundtrack, breathtaking cinematography and all the rage and violence. This is the logical next step and the massive leap the series required and deserved.

God of War was never the deepest experience, especially with what feels like limited enemy types. But the PlayStation 4 makes up for this in spades with an incredibly vast world and a heartwarming story. Beyond Kratos and Atreus, the game is filled with some surprisingly lovable characters. On top of that, finishing the main story doesn't truly feel like the end. While previous games made it feel like treading old territory to find everything, the post-game in this God of War makes it feel like the world has truly opened up.

God of War is the best thing happened to PlayStation 4 since Bloodborne. Nothing is out of place, nothing is ordinary. The art direction is amazingly inspired, the combat system is really deep and engaging, and everything on screen is, hands down, unlike anything else you ever saw on the PlayStation 4. Honestly, there's no reason not to play this new masterpiece from Santa Monica Studio.
TheSixthAxis - Jim Hargreaves - 8 / 10
A lot of what goes into God of War feels as though it was cherry-picked from the modern gaming zeitgeist. The semi-open world structure, loot system, and a much deeper narrative focus work well, but are all trends being pushed by most other big games. As a result, God of War can feel slightly homogenised in a way that some fans may find unappealing. Thankfully, a strong sense of setting and brutally satisfying combat help maintain that God of War identity. If it wasn't made abundantly clear already, this is the first in what will most likely be a new trilogy for the God of War franchise, and this first instalment serves as a pretty great foundation.
TrueGaming - عمر العمودي - Arabic - 9 / 10.0
The God of War series needed a big change of direction and it got that for sure. The final product is an adventure that will not be forgotten for a long time. This is a new and different God of War and we love it.
TrustedReviews - Brett Phipps - 4.5 / 5 stars
God of War tells a wonderful tale through a beautiful spectrum speckled with more than a few drops of the blood of your enemies. It's a shame, then, that boss fights have fallen by the wayside at every level to become terribly monotonous – but if that's the cost of what Santa Monica has built, it's certainly a price worth paying.
Twinfinite - Zhiqing Wan - 4 / 5.0
God of War certainly suffers from a lot of minor flaws that keep it from being a genuinely outstanding action-adventure title, but these feel like kinks that can be ironed out in time, perhaps when the next iteration in the series comes rolling around. Despite all my complaints about Atreus and the game's imperfections, this is still an easy game to recommend to anyone with a PS4. God of War marks the glorious and bloody return of everyone's favorite Spartan, and with the new dive into Norse mythology, there's still plenty of adventures to look forward to as the series evolves.
USgamer - Mike Williams - 5 / 5 stars
This is how you do a reboot. After Kratos lost his way, Sony Santa Monica has set the God of War on a new path. A more measure, nuanced character, a great supporting cast, an excellent combat system, and some of the best graphics in the PlayStation 4 game to-date add up to a winner.
VGN - Giovanni Marrelli - Italian - 9.5 / 10.0
Another masterpiece available exclusively on PS4, God of War is a new beginning for the saga from Sony Santa Monica Studios. A game that offers a deep story, a great combat system and lots of RPG mechanics that adds complexity and variety to the final experience. If you own a PS4, there is no doubt: God of War is a game that you don't wanna miss.

God of War proves that if there was anything that Kratos learned during his time in Grecian lands, it's how to have a proper adventure. Now that he is a little bit older, wiser, and more experienced, it's time for him to start to pass the torch on and become a family man.
We Got This Covered - Shaan Joshi - 5 / 5 stars
From its renewed focus on storytelling, to its stunningly gorgeous world and incredibly satisfying combat, God of War is nothing short of a masterpiece, one that sets a new bar for what can be accomplished in the world of AAA games.
Worth Playing - Redmond Carolipio - 9.2 / 10.0
Of all the iterations of Kratos I've seen over the lifetime of the God of War series, Old Man Kratos is probably my favorite. His newest adventure might not have quite the same wall-to-wall bombast as the ones that came before, but he's added a new dimension to his personality. He can only stay Old Testament-angry for so long, and the table is definitely set for more installments. There's more to explore now in this new corner of mythology, and it'll be compelling to see if he burns everything to the ground or finds an even higher place to go.
ZTGD - Ken McKown - 10 / 10.0
God of War is, simply put, the best PS4 game I have played in the console's life-cycle. I can't stop thinking about its world and characters. I had so much fun exploring it and taking on its combat. I wanted more, and the game delivers. After having hesitations about the direction I thought the game was going, I am thrilled to report that all of my concerns were nullified within the first hour of the game. This is the true evolution of the series, and quite possibly the best game of the year. Well at least so far.

Despite eye-catching changes, the heart of this series remains gloriously unaltered.

Despite these shortcomings, I believe the God of War series is in good hands, and I wouldn't want anyone else touching it but Santa Monica Studio. Here is hoping greater times are coming to Midgard in the not so distant future.

God of War is a truly engrossing, enjoyable experience.
TechnoBuffalo - Eric Frederiksen - 4.5 / 5 stars
Instead of a tired, bored tale of vengeance, Sony has revived a god.
Telegraph - Tom Hoggins - 5 / 5 stars
One of the most gorgeous, spectacular and impactful blockbusters of the generation
The Games Machine - Ivan Conte - Italian - 9.7 / 10.0
Video Chums - Tyler Hall - 9.5 / 10.0
The God of War series has undergone a fantastic transformation.
Video Game Sophistry - Unknown - 9.5 / 10.0
God of War is an experience that elevates the video game medium and is the new pinnacle of immersive storytelling
VideoGamer - Alice Bell - 9 / 10
God of War achieves a very impressive balance between the epic and the mundane, between the ultra violent and the domestic. It's undoubtedly the coolest and most interesting God of War to date.
Washington Post - Christopher Byrd - No Verdict
A more nuanced Kratos makes the new 'God of War' a mighty success
Wccftech - Kai Powell - 10 / 10.0

AngryCentaurGaming - Jeremy Penter Wait for Sale ~ Wait For Sale This is a 'Wait For Sale'. For Far Cry games, it's always two steps forward one step back and the improvements here are keen, but what my gameplay always came down to was the fact that the spawning system was just so out of control and everything felt so messy over time. Any engagement I wanted to have would always be infected by some type of badger or creature leaping in and attacking everybody, and at first that was fine, but when it stopped characters from being able to talk to me because they get halfway through their sentence and then some animal would attack and it reset everybody, that just started to get a little bit bothersome. PS4
Leadergamer - Emrah Subaşı - Turkish Essential ~ Essential Far Cry 5 learned its lessons from Ubisoft's mistakes and the game's series. Missions don't repeat themselves and offers fun and long gameplay. Despite minor mistakes, Far Cry 5 deserves to be liked.
Eurogamer - Edwin Evans-Thirlwell Unscored ~ Unscored Make Montana emergent again. PS4
Pardis Game - Alireza Razmjoei - Persian Unscored ~ Unscored Without a doubt, Far Cry 5 is the most varied game in the series. Thanks to smart changes to the exploring formula and of course amazing world of Hope County, we can finally say that Far Cry series has evolved. PS4
The A.V. Club - William Hughes Unscored ~ Unscored Montana features some of the most beautiful country in all of America, and Ubisoft has done an amazing job of capturing its rural glory. And the freedom to get credit for just f**** around in this gorgeous world, doing whatever feels most fun, is legitimately intoxicating.* PS4
Player2.net.au - Matt Hewson Unscored ~ Unscored Is Far Cry 5 just another Far Cry game? Well, yes it is, but at the same time, it is more than that. This is a game that has taken what came before it and improved upon it in every single way. The story is brutal, engaging and utterly enthralling, the main characters are memorable and the gameplay is refined and presented in a clever and natural way. So yes this is just another Far Cry game, it is Far Cry at its peak, the best that Far Cry can be and that is truly something worth playing.
Waypoint - Austin Walker Unscored ~ Unscored Despite a strong premise and updates to the series formula, FC5 fails to find a compelling identity.
CNET - Jeff Bakalar Unscored ~ Unscored Far Cry 5 is an awesome open-world action game, delivering the most fully realized, player-driven entry in the series to date. PS4
Kotaku - Ethan Gach Unscored ~ Unscored Far Cry games are laboratories for experimenting, giving you the freedom to do stuff ordinary games won’t, like throw a molotov cocktail at just about anything and watch it burn to the ground. They usually have better shooting than most open world games, and better open worlds than most shooters. Far Cry 5 nails that part of the series’ legacy. The game’s missions flow together organically and let you shift from capturing a cult outpost using an array of explosives and guns to scaling cliffs in search of hidden caches of equipment and lore-filled collectibles. It fails, however, to meaningfully move beyond the rest of the series in merging the violence and chaos these experiments produce with the community of people scattered throughout its world.
Saving Content - Scott Ellison II 100 ~ 5 / 5 stars Hope County, Montana is the American Dream turned Nightmare. Far Cry 5 is dense with activities, people, places, and events that are never overwhelming, but wrack you with indecision as to what to do next. While Far Cry as a series still struggles with the juxtaposition of its humor and seriousness, it manages to do this well enough to not let them get in the way of each other. Far Cry 5 is a shining example of how to revitalize the open world, as this is the best realized game in the series to date, with a convincing villain and a tale to match its tone. Far Cry 5 will make you a believer. PC
Windows Central - Jez Corden 100 ~ 5 / 5 stars Ultimately, Far Cry 5 is a relentlessly fun, aggressively varied open world shooter that will keep you hooked for dozens and dozens of hours. The game's world has never felt more alive, brimming with animal ecosystems, serene lakes, and verdant forests, with spectacular scenery just begging to be screenshotted. XB1
Cheat Code Central - April Marie 96 ~ 4.8 / 5 It might seem like I have a lot of complaints for a game I'm touting as being really good, but the positives of Far Cry 5 outweigh the negative. You can play exactly how you want. You can stealthily take down an entire region, before moving to another. You can run and gun your way through all three simultaneously. The characters that you meet are varied and engaging. There are tons of things to do and see, and plenty of real and virtual people to experience them with. Most of all, Far Cry 5 tells a story that grabs you by the shirt collar and never lets go. PS4
GameSpace - Damien Gula 95 ~ 9.5 / 10 Far Cry 5 is an artistic lesson in juxtaposition. On one hand you have a group of devoted followers of a "message of peace" that live in violence. You have a calm and charismatic leader who insights calamity. There are communities united in anarchy. Far Cry 5 provokes its audience to think and wrestle with the uncomfortable answers to our own "what-ifs" about faith, family, and the power of community. PS4
Hobby Consolas - Álvaro Alonso - Spanish 93 ~ 93 / 100 Simply put, Far Cry 5 is the best Far Cry game to date. It has the best story, the best progression and introduces a lot of changes (for the good) while maintaining that explosive old formula that works so freaking well. God Bless Hope County. PS4
Oyungezer Online - Utku Çakır - Turkish 92 ~ 9.2 / 10 Your visit to Hope County will offer an unforgettable experience. I can wholeheartedly recommend Far Cry 5 to everyone. XB1
VGN - Tommaso Stio - Italian 92 ~ 9.2 / 10 Far Cry 5 is the result of a strong development made during the past few years by Ubisoft. It really is a mixture of all the strengths belonging to this saga until today. Although this new chapter detaches from a well agreed scheme, as it happened during the third episode with Vaas Montenegro, it is still capable to draw a good starting point for this series. And of course, this is the best Far Cry ever made. PS4
Wccftech - Kai Powell 91 ~ 9.1 / 10 If you're wondering whether bringing the madness to our doorstep, making the entire campaign co-op and including an impressive toolbox to create new levels and missions while still retaining that visceral gunplay the series is known for keeps Far Cry 5 fresh and worth playing on Day One, my answer is: yes, absolutely. PS4, PC
IGN Spain - Juan García - Spanish 90 ~ 9 / 10 Far Cry 5 is as good as we were wishing, offering a great campaign with lots of freedom and things to do, a satisfying narrative and surprising multiplayer options through Far Cry Arcade. A pretty complete pack. XB1
COGconnected - Paul Sullivan 90 ~ 90 / 100 The characters and story really make Far Cry 5 a brave product. PS4
God is a Geek - Chris White 90 ~ 9 / 10.0 The best Far Cry yet, with well written characters, lots of freedom to play how you want, and a lot of fun to be had on your own or with a friend. PS4
Press Start - Toby Berger 90 ~ 9 / 10 stars Far Cry 5 is an absolute blast from beginning to end, chock full of things to do and involve yourself in. The narrative is interesting, and everything you do in Hope County feels meaningful in some way or another — making for an experience that feels as rewarding as it does enjoyable. PS4
SA Gamer - Garth Holden 90 ~ 9 / 10 Far Cry 5 is the height of the series and gives new legs to exploration in open world games while keeping the freeform tools to take down places as you see fit. Welcome to Hope County, you will be here a while. PS4
USgamer - Mike Williams 90 ~ 4.5 / 5 stars Far Cry 5 is a game that struggles in trying to serve two purposes. On one hand, there's a dark, horrific tale of a cult taking over a small town. On the other, it's a playground of destruction, letting players fly and drive around, blowing up things with a bear and a dog. Both sides are good, but they don't really meet in the middle. If you can survive the tonal whiplash, you'll find a great game here and Far Cry Arcade only makes it better. PS4
TheSixthAxis - Gareth Chadwick 90 ~ 9 / 10 Far Cry 5 is another improvement to a series that hit its stride quite a long time ago. It gets a recommendation not because of any of its individual features, but because they all combine together into a game that becomes paradoxically funny and horrifying, occasionally at the same time. It depicts a part of America lovingly with its tongue very firmly glued to its cheek, but when I close my eyes, I still see Joseph Seed staring back at me. PS4
We Got This Covered - David Morgan 90 ~ 4.5 / 5 stars Ubisoft have cherry-picked everything that has made the Far Cry series successful, and distilled it into a single, laser-focused package. Far Cry 5 probably isn't going to blow anyone's mind, but it provides a continuously fun experience that avoids the repetition and formulaic nature of past titles. PS4
PlayStation Universe - Garri Bagdasarov 90 ~ 9 / 10 Far Cry 5 is the best Far Cry to date. The great additions and refinements made to the franchise are fantastic. Along with the inclusion of Far Cry Arcade, which extends your play time, Far Cry 5 is the ultimate open-world first person shooter. PS4
GameSpot - Edmond Tran 90 ~ 9 / 10 [Provisional Score] With smart changes to exploration, discovery, and progression, Far Cry 5 makes engaging and experimenting with its gorgeous open world more exciting than ever. PC
CGMagazine - Cole Watson 90 ~ 9 / 10 Far Cry 5 was a blast from start to finish, pulling me into the experience instantly with an Americana rich world full of memorable characters and built with a strong core of addictive first-person gameplay. PS4
Attack of the Fanboy - William Schwartz 90 ~ 4.5 / 5 stars We didn't get it with the last two entries in the series, but Far Cry 5 feels like the generational leap that fans have been waiting for. This installment certainly feels like the biggest in terms of content and it just might be the best Far Cry game to date. XB1
Saudi Gamer - صالح بازرعة - Arabic 90 ~ 9 / 10 Far Cry 5 delivers on what has made the series special, with freeform gameplay, a hostile environment replete with colorful characters and a generous amount of content in both missions and activities, in addition to numerous gameplay tweaks and improvements. It might not be a huge departure from the series, but it definitely is the most polished one so far. PS4
TechRaptor - Samuel Guglielmo 90 ~ 9 / 10 Far Cry 5 combines a wonderful setting and interesting characters with extremely fun gameplay, a fantastic open world full of great side quests, and lovely presentation. It also has a powerful level editor that could make some real gems. This is a new standout for the series, as it's easily the best Far Cry has been. PS4
GamingTrend - Ron Burke 90 ~ 90 / 100 With new gameplay mechanics, overhauled progression systems, a strong narrative, and the Guns/Friends for Hire system, Far Cry 5 is the overhaul that the series desperately needed. It is easily the best of the series, and represents a positive step in a new direction. Come for the storyline, stay for the co-op chaos. PS4
GamingBolt - Shubhankar Parijat 90 ~ 9 / 10 Far Cry 5's open-ended and free-form brand of exploration, chaotic and emergent combat, immersive setting, and inherently fascinating narrative premise all come together in what is easily the best Far Cry game ever. PS4
Game Rant - Dalton Cooper 90 ~ 4.5 / 5 Far Cry 5 may not have much in the way of revolutionary new ideas, but it streamlines Ubisoft's open world formula and delivers one of the best games in the series. PS4
3DNews - Алексей Лихачев - Russian 90 ~ 9 / 10 A wonderful continuation of the series. Far Cry 5 adjusted a well-known formula enough to make the chase after brilliant antagonists very fun and exciting. PS4
VideoGamer - Colm Ahern 90 ~ 9 / 10 In its quieter moments Hope County is a picturesque backdrop to terrific Prepper Stash puzzles, and an over-the-top fantasy playground when the volume is turned up. Taking on Eden's Gate is compelling, horrific, and an awful lot of fun. XB1
AusGamers - Steve Farrelly 90 ~ 9 / 10 And so what we get in the end is a Far Cry that is both structured and full of open player-agency and emergent activity. It’s a game whose game-world is designed for you to love and adore, to become intimate and at one with; to be equally terrified of. XB1
Fenix Bazaar - Gaetano Prestia 90 ~ 9 / 10 [Provisional Score] Brimming with confidence, overflowing with content, and firmly established among the genre’s best, Far Cry 5 stakes early claim as one of the year’s best. You don’t want to miss the sheer insanity of Hope County, Montana. PS4
Stevivor - Ben Salter 90 ~ 9 / 10 Far Cry 5 is the thoughtful next step in a series renowned for shooting first and thinking second. The villains are devious, the world is intriguing and the wild animals remind you who owns the land. It takes the Far Cry blueprint and expands the highlights while changing the sliders on aspects that became overused to craft not only the best Far Cry game, but one of the best open worlds to explore this generation, whether alone or with a little help from a friend (or AI dog). XB1
Dualshockers - Lou Contaldi 90 ~ 9 / 10 Far Cry 5 isn't revolutionizing open world gaming, but it is a perfection of one of Ubisoft's most noteworthy series. With a captivating scenario, diverse gameplay options, breathtaking background, and a colorful cast of characters, Far Cry 5 is primed as one of 2018's earliest Game of the Year contenders, and potentially the best title in the series to date. Through more thoroughly leaning into the concepts of open-world design, Ubisoft has managed to craft a game that will really scratch your itch for exploration. PS4
GearNuke - Khurram Imtiaz 90 ~ 9 / 10 Far Cry series has finally made its return after a long wait, and it’s a bigger and more ambitious attempt on the same old classic Far Cry formula that the fans have grown to love across the numerous games. PS4
IGN - Daemon Hatfield 89 ~ 8.9 / 10 Far Cry 5 is another wide-open playground with all the necessary ingredients for causing a real ruckus: loads of enemies and allies, temperamental wildlife, and plenty of explosions. PS4, XB1
Cerealkillerz - Gabriel Bogdan - German 89 ~ 8.9 / 10 Despite a frustrating AI and a strong focus on Online Co-Op/Far Cry Arcade, Far Cry 5 is probably the best Far Cry experience so far. From a intuitive exploration over a varied open world and lots of amusing and crazy moments this game got everything that fans love about the series. It's still open how much long-term motivation the map editor and live events will offer but Far Cry Fans will be entertained for about 15-20 hours. PS4
Elite Gamer - Vinny Fanneran 89 ~ 8.9 / 10 A believable but no less intense story with tight gameplay set in a notably detailed and beautiful open world. Ubisoft have done an incredible job of refreshing another of their biggest franchises. XB1
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette - Max Parker 88 ~ 8.8 / 10 There are few open world games that can match the pure escapism of the "Far Cry" presentation. With a few sanded edges, the gameplay can match that presentation.
IGN Italy - Gianluca Loggia - Italian 86 ~ 8.6 / 10 Far Cry 5, following the steps of the previous episodes, offers a very large map to explore and a lot of things to do, with a good first person shooter experience and interesting action/stealth possibilities. The game is not perfect in all of its aspects, but it's often very funny and always enjoyable, with a very fascinating and unique antagonist. PS4
PowerUp! - Leo Stevenson 85 ~ 8.5 / 10 Far Cry 5 is a brilliantly put together, sandbox game. Its focus remains on the various shades of human sanity, but rather than focus on the easily recognized evils, it forces players to look at a far more insidious kind. PS4
GamesBeat - Jeff Grubb 85 ~ 85 / 100 Far Cry 5 is mechanically sound and varied. You'll find something that entertains you, and Ubisoft has nailed all of the underlying elements of character and world progression. At the same time, it squanders some decent writing because it can't decide what kind of game it is.
Worth Playing - Redmond Carolipio 85 ~ 8.5 / 10 What I found there was a redneck action odyssey I didn't ask for and never knew I wanted, until I found myself in the late hours of the night raiding enemy outposts with a trained bear and a shotgun-bearing pyromaniac. PS4
Xbox Achievements - Richard Walker 85 ~ 85 / 100 From its tense opening to its blistering conclusion, Far Cry 5 is another cracking installment in the series, streamlining some of the hunting elements and putting co-op up front for both the campaign and the bottomless Far Cry Arcade. The narrative and characters will live on in the memory once you're done and dusted too, as will the insane random minute-to-minute moments that always succeed in making Far Cry so unique. XB1
The Games Machine - Ivan Conte - Italian 85 ~ 8.5 / 10 We cannot deny that Far Cry 5 is another "more of the same", warts and all, but the religious fanatic setting is spot-on, and Montana in simply wonderful (and Joseph Seed is one of the best villains the series has ever had). The open-world approach of the game works as usual, and the more you look at it as a big, sumptuous playground, the better. The Arcade mode has a lot, a lot of potential that will show its best in the upcoming weeks and months, when the community will start toying with the powerful editor. Enough as it is, Far Cry 5 is an excellent chapter in the series. PS4
Heavy.com - Collin MacGregor 85 ~ 8.5 / 10 The level of freedom and creativity offered to players alongside the shockingly rich story makes Far Cry 5 an extremely memorable ride. PS4
Gadgets 360 - Rishi Alwani 80 ~ 8 / 10 These issues notwithstanding, Far Cry 5 is a welcome entry in a series that's been consistently entertaining over the years. The campaign is filled with memorable characters, robust progression, and action galore that all combine to make it a treat to play. XB1
Gameblog - Gianni Molinaro - French 80 ~ 8 / 10 It seems like Far Cry 5 tries hard to be different in some ways. But in the end, it is obvious it doesn't want to - it can't - step too far from its predecessors. There's a feeling that even though its world is new, appealling, offers some good tweaks, a magnificient set of allies and villains, and a potentially unlimited content in Arcade mode, we still have the same game flawed with the same A.I. problems, we still complete the same kind of missions and see the same animations. As we sure can have fun and witness a fantastic ending, this can be forgiven. Until next time. PS4
GamesRadar+ - Leon Hurley 80 ~ 4 / 5 stars A polished and refined installment that values your time more than the previous games and keeps the focus on entertaining you throughout.
Spaziogames - Matteo Bussani - Italian 80 ~ 8 / 10 Far Cry 5 brings the player in a Montana Valley controlled by a religious fanatic group . The gameplay is solid and it is related to the past of the series. The game lasts 25 hours, guided by a non-linear storyline, and arcade mode is a solid way to increase the offer of the game. PC
Metro GameCentral - GameCentral 80 ~ 8 / 10 The best Far Cry yet and one of the best open world shooters of any kind, with an impressive variety of missions and non-linear structure. PS4
Zoomg - Mohsen Vaziri - Persian 80 ~ 8 / 10 Far Cry 5 is one of the best entries in this series. Guns for hire is a great addition to the game and the world always have something to offer. If the game had better AI and story had focused only on main antagonist Far Cry 5 could be something like Far Cry 3. PS4
Hardcore Gamer - Chris Shive 80 ~ 4 / 5 Far Cry 5 doesn't deviate too much from the Far Cry formula, simply expanding upon what the series is known for. PS4
M3 - Billy Ekblom - Swedish 80 ~ 8 / 10 Far Cry 5 is an epic soundbox experience, driven by the joy of exploration and all-out chaotic gunplay. It's all good fun, but also very familiar, and we can't help but wonder what would have been if Ubisoft put more story-driven elements into the game. PS4
GamePro - Hannes Rossow 80 ~ 80 / 100 A usual entertaining Far Cry game, that leaves a lot to be desired in terms of villain and story. PS4
GameMAG - xtr - Russian 80 ~ 8 / 10 Far Cry 5 plays best in co-op with a friend thanks to many crazy situations and fun moments. The basic story is not bad, but Ubisoft is copying itself and amount of recycled elements can upset someone. Still, excellent graphics, helicopter missions, treasure hunts and many other things make Far Cry 5 a good game. PS4
GameSkinny - Ty Arthur 80 ~ 8 / 10 Ready to plow through herds of bison with a death tractor and then get into a flamethrower fight before taking some relaxation time to go fishing? That's Far Cry 5 in a nutshell. XB1
Twinfinite - Chris Jecks 80 ~ 8 / 10 Far Cry 5 is exactly that – more Far Cry. If you’ve never been a fan of the series, this doesn’t do anything to change your mind. If you loved liberating outposts and blowing shit up in the Himalayas, you’ll enjoy doing it in Hope County, too. Its sprawling world, varied missions, and memorable characters all make for an incredibly entertaining experience, and helped me to overlook the niggling technical issues and occasional frustrating fetch quests in my 30+ hours in Montana. PS4
Easy Allies - Brandon Jones 80 ~ 8 / 10 Far Cry 5 will try to convince you the world is coming to an end. While the threat of the Eden’s Gate cult is ever-present, what we value most from our time traveling through Hope County are the individual encounters with clever quest-givers, our favorite specialists, or a trusty co-op buddy. It’s a shame the story unnecessarily brings things down to such a dark place, spontaneously interrupting your thrill-seeking pursuits with nothing but bad vibes. Far Cry 5 is like the 4th of July. There’s some serious subject matter being considered, but the experience is mostly about blowing stuff up. PS4
PC Gamer - Christopher Livingston 80 ~ 80 / 100 The wonderful chaos of the open world and your choice of how to tackle it is occasionally stifled by bad boss fights and worse boss speeches. PC
Gamestar - Dimitry Halley - German 79 ~ 79 / 100 Despite the interesting cultist scenario, Far Cry 5 only remains a good shooter with a miserably disappointing story line. PC
Gamersky - 不倒翁蜀黍 - Chinese 78 ~ 7.8 / 10 Playing Ubisoft's Far Cry 5 is just like chewing McDonald's Big Mac. It's really appetizing but never surprises me. I already know what it tastes like before actually biting, considering all the Big Mac are made by the same recipe. So does Far Cry 5. XB1
Game Informer - Jeff Cork 75 ~ 7.5 / 10 Virtually everything about Far Cry 5 is thoroughly okay. For a series that has provided so many thrills and surprises, that's a major disappointment. PS4
Destructoid - Raymond Porreca 75 ~ 7.5 / 10 Far Cry 5 is a solid first-person shooter set in a vibrant, breathtaking location. It plays well, looks great, and is packed with enough content to keep players invested in Hope County for a good, long while. Though Joseph Seed and Eden's Gate work better in theory than in practice, the Montana-based doomsday cult marks a departure for the franchise that pays off. PS4
Areajugones - Pablo Espinosa - Spanish 75 ~ 7.5 / 10 Far Cry 5 is an amazing action game that keeps the essence of the saga. However, its weak plot and map division are elements that make this game inferior to its previous installments. PS4
PlayStation LifeStyle - Chandler Wood 75 ~ 7.5 / 10 Far Cry 5 takes steps forward by upping the stakes with a sinister villain and bold new setting, while also stumbling backwards with its non-linear approach and separation of character progression from the world. PS4
Game Revolution - Jason Faulkner 70 ~ 3.5 / 5 stars If you liked the other Far Cry games, you'll like this one, because it's more of the same. Some of the series conventions have been taken away (like having to climb towers, thank God), or improved, but it's still very much a Far Cry game. PS4
Digitally Downloaded - Ginny W. 70 ~ 3.5 / 5 stars It never really realises the absurdity of the story that its telling even as it leans into absurd humour in plenty of other areas in the game. PS4
Push Square - Glen Fox 70 ~ 7 / 10 The best thing we can say about Far Cry 5 is that it's competent, and the worst that it's far too safe. PS4
Polygon - Ben Kuchera 65 ~ 6.5 / 10 What’s left if you have the stomach to ignore the story? A very enjoyable game with an immense number of things to do, a beautifully recreated portion of the United States, and a collection of missions with wildly varying tones and structure. It’s a finely tuned open-world game stapled onto a story that’s insultingly bad. PS4, XB1, PC
Guardian - Keza MacDonald 60 ~ 3 / 5 stars A mission to save the US from destruction by a charismatic leader flits between flamethrowing fun and graphic torture in a tonally unpredictable vision.
Giant Bomb - Jeff Gerstmann 60 ~ 3 / 5 stars A decent video game undermined by bad pacing, weak characters, and a wishy-washy world view. Play it cooperatively with a friend, ignore the characters and their motivations, and you'll probably have a good time. PC
Slant Magazine - Justin Clark 50 ~ 2.5 / 5 stars Whether intentionally or not, the game gives glory to a brand of grassroots militia fetishism that, just days before the its release, millions of Americans marched in the streets to oppose. Far Cry 5 posits that people would need to be brainwashed to follow men like Joseph Seed, blind to how deep Christian fanaticism already runs, and how many would follow such a man if he only said the word "please." PS4
Edit - I'm trying to put more popular review sites in italics. I'll be playing around with that to make them pop out more for people skimming. Maybe not make them stand out too much so people still give a chance looking at smaller review sites.

Kotaku - Kirk Hamilton Unscored ~ Unscored Assassin’s Creed Origins is ungainly and uneven, beautiful and frustrating, expansive and unexpectedly conservative. It won’t challenge the palate; rather, it is a prime example of video-game comfort food. It’s here to be slowly enjoyed, offering a seemingly endless supply of gorgeous locales and steadily-filling progress bars. If Ubisoft is a digital travel agency, Origins provides one of the most sweeping, enveloping destinations they’ve yet offered. Come for the beautiful recreation of ancient Egypt, stay for the beautiful recreation of ancient Egypt.
VG247 - Brenna Hillier Unscored ~ Unscored Assassin’s Creed Origins is not a dramatic departure from the formula as we last saw it, but manages to be much more fun and feel way more fresh than any entry since Brotherhood and Black Flag. It plays to the strengths of a genre Ubisoft helped bring into the mainstream, respects the player and their freedom, and allows them to beat up crocodiles. I’m into it.
Ars Technica - Daniel Starkey Unscored ~ Unscored A shining example of what exploration-based games can be, dropping many of its franchise's worst traits even while being sometimes held back by the mundane. Buy it. PS4
AngryCentaurGaming - Jeremy Penter Wait for Sale ~ Wait for Sale This is actually a 'Wait for Sale'. Make no mistake, I loved a good deal of this game and travelling across this world is so frigging awesome-looking. Unfortunately, that's offset by a battle system that just wasn't as slick as say Zelda's, which I think it's trying to crib from, and the bugs that obviously got in the way. The game looks absolutely beautiful at times, but it does have a couple issues with pop-in and so forth. I think this is a title that, with a couple of patches, really could make me enjoy the part of the game that the game wants you to enjoy the most when it comes to change, and that is the battle. It just has some issues right now.
Eurogamer - Christian Donlan Recommended ~ Recommended Assassin's Creed returns and its vast and evocative Egypt inspires wonder - even if much in the game remains familiar. PS4
GamesRadar+ - Louise Blain 100 ~ 5 / 5 stars As beautiful as it is deadly, Origins' Egyptian playground is finally everything you wanted the Creed to be.
Saudi Gamer - سندس الخباز - Arabic 100 ~ 10 / 10 Assassin's Creed Origins took an amazing new direction with a brand new story, new world, and new hero. The story is quite epic and it presents some of the most important historical events and characters in Egypt. I loved the variety of targets and how each boss has a complete different approach that changes the combat strategy and gameplay. PS4
GameSpace - GameSpace 97 ~ 9.7 / 10 Assassin's Creed Origins is a breathtaking sensorial odyssey. It is the MMO I have been waiting for without the MMO part and boy would my heart skip a beat if it were massively multiplayer online. Ubisoft has won a new superfan. PC
SA Gamer - Garth Holden 95 ~ 9.5 / 10 Moving away from the industrial sausage machine to a bespoke creation oozing with attention to detail, history, love and satisfying combat, Ubisoft is back in the ring, ready to take on other open world contenders. PS4
Oyungezer Online - Utku Çakır - Turkish 93 ~ 9.3 / 10 It's a magnificent restart for the Assassin's Creed franchise. Origins slowly but surely follows in the footsteps of The Witcher 3. PS4
Forbes - Paul Tassi 93 ~ 9.25 / 10 Assassin's Creed Origins improves from its past few installments in almost every way, yet it never quite reaches the heights of the games it tries to emulate. PS4
Hobby Consolas - Álvaro Alonso - Spanish 92 ~ 92 / 100 Origins can pretty much be considered one of the best entries in the series (if not the best) for introducing a myriad of changes, all for the best, and making the series advance in the same way Assassin's Creed II did back in the day. Put it into a sarcophagus next to the pharaohs, because this game is worth of the Valley of the Kings. XB1
IGN Middle East - Islam Ibrahim - Arabic 92 ~ 9.2 / 10 Ubisoft has promised that Assassin's Creed Origins will bring the series back to its roots, but it surpassed its roots. It provided amazing RPG system and led us to a journey we would never forget in Ancient Egypt. PS4
Critical Hit - Noelle Adams 90 ~ 9 / 10 Assassin's Creed Origins is a pharaoh's tomb chock-full of shiny treasures for gamers, especially those fascinated with Ancient Egypt. The side quests may feel a little repetitive, but the credible, nuanced characters and diversity of the main plot make up for it. And with so much to explore and do in its jaw-dropping setting, Origins is exceptional. PS4
Gameblog - Julien Hubert - French 90 ~ 9 / 10 If Assassin's Creed Origins is not perfect, it perfectly understood what it had to do to regain the hearts of the players and fans of the series. In addition to delivering the mysterious and fascinating ancient Egypt on a silver plate, in an absolutely gigantic open world, full of activities and secrets to discover, it succeeds in transforming its gameplay by brilliantly integrating RPG elements and completely renewing, with no less talent, its combat system. It will literally absorbs you for dozens and dozens of hours. Assassin's Creed Origins succeeds in taking care of its fans and its fundamentals, while starting its own revolution. We can only hope that the next episodes will keep this momentum. XB1
Digitally Downloaded - Matt Sainsbury 90 ~ 4.5 / 5 stars This is the best game in the Assassin’s Creed series. That extra year of development time has really helped Ubisoft find its creative centre again, and craft something that feels both fresh and energised. I could take or leave the shifts in gameplay to make this more like the loot-grind RPG-likes that dominate blockbuster game development now, but when Ubisoft is playing so beautifully within a fascinating period of history, all I care about is how utterly engrossed I am with the storytelling. PS4
IGN - Alanah Pearce 90 ~ 9 / 10 Assassin's Creed Origins is a deep-dive into a truly stunning realization of ancient Egypt, with a rich series of cultures, genuine characters, and more mission variety than any other game in the series. The combat is challenging and thoughtful, and while the loot system doesn't match up to games like Destiny 2, there are enough different weapon types and enough enemy variety to keep you swapping between weapons, catered to the situation. The RPG elements encourage challenges of their own, and even despite a handful of bugs, I desperately wanted to keep playing. PS4, XB1, PC
Game Revolution - Paul Tamburro 90 ~ 4.5 / 5 stars The extra year of development time paid off and ensured that Assassin’s Creed Origins likely wouldn’t underwhelm its audience by repeating its past sins. Instead, it modernized itself by adopting a more open structure and intuitive set of controls and gameplay systems, effectively marking a new chapter in the franchise. It’s fitting that Origins showed the birth of the Assassin’s Creed while also indicating the much-needed rebirth of the Assassin’s Creed series. XB1
Eurogamer Italy - Lorenzo Mancosu - Italian 90 ~ 9 / 10 Assassin’s Creed Origins is one of the best open-world action games of this generation. The setting is quite evocative, the plot is engaging and there are also good endgame activities. The Creed is reborn. XB1
Press Start - Brodie Gibbons 90 ~ 9 / 10 I fell out of love with Assassin's Creed a long time ago, but Origins has recaptured the magic that made the series a powerhouse all those years ago. With its humble protagonist, whose outlook on life is clouded by relateable and crushing heartbreak, and a world so detail-rich, it's hard not to be floored by everything Origins manages to be. Assassin's Creed Origins is the definitive action-adventure game of the year. It's a wild power fantasy that satisfies not only a curious thirst for knowledge but both bloodlust and wanderlust to such lengths it's almost gluttonous. PS4
IGN Spain - David Soriano - Spanish 90 ~ 9 / 10 Assassin's Creed Origins manages to combine familiarity with revolution. Its RPG mechanics, new combat system and equiment management make you feel a fresh enough experience. The map is huge, beautiful and detailed, supported by an outstanding artistic direction. Unfortunately, the narrative fails to captivate us to make it closer to perfection. XB1
EGM - Ray Carsillo 90 ~ 9 / 10 Assassin's Creed: Origins delivers a robust experience that mixes up the traditional Assassin's Creed formula in a way that's fresh and fun to play—but which also harkens back to the series' roots in some welcome ways, too. It marks an evolution fans might not have even known they were waiting for, delivering one of the best overall experiences we've seen yet from the series. PS4
Twinfinite - Ishmael Romero 90 ~ 4.5 / 5 What we have here is a game that is more than it seems. Origins is a fitting title because there are a lot of beginnings to witness, many of which will pique the interest of lore aficionados. PS4
Cheat Code Central - Sean Engemann 90 ~ 4.5 / 5 stars Assassin’s Creed is one the greatest action-adventure franchises out there, though its hidden blades have been dulled of late from overexposure. After its brief sabbatical, Assassin’s Creed: Origins enters the arena glistening in the Egyptian sun with quality and quantity. Whether you’re a devout member of the Creed, someone who’s fallen off the hay wagon, or even a prospective new member of the Brotherhood, this is the time to dig your blade deep into a succulent new Assassin’s Creed.
We Got This Covered - Jon Hueber 90 ~ 4.5 / 5 stars Assassin's Creed Origins is a triumph, taking the series back to the beginning and allowing players to partake in the genesis of the war between the Templars and the Brotherhood of Assassins. PS4
GameSkinny - Sergey_3847 90 ~ 9 / 10 stars Assassin's Creed: Origins takes all the best elements of the action-RPG genre, and gives you a complete freedom to use them all in the gorgeous setting of the Ancient Egypt. PC
Gamestar - Dimitry Halley - German 89 ~ 89 / 100 Although Assassin's Creed: Origins doesn't overcome the Ubisoft-formula, it perfects it into an excellent open-world adventure. PC
Pure Playstation - Kyle Durant 88 ~ 8.8 / 10 Ubisoft needed to recapture the magic that made the series great in the first place, and it seems it has done so. It's just all the quintessential problems within said magic tag along for the ride. PS4
GamePro - Linda Sprenger - German 88 ~ 88 / 100 Assassin's Creed: Origins is formulated, but because of the great story and the motivating RPG system it is the best part in a long time. PS4
Areajugones - Christian López - Spanish 87 ~ 8.7 / 10 Assassin's Creed Origins performs remarkably in every aspect and shows a final and finished product, leaving behind the ghosts that had this franchise. It's a title that every fan of the series should play, because it correctly maintains the essence and implements fresh and fun elements to the series. To sum up, Assassin's Creed Origins is the renewal that the saga needed. PS4
Atomix - Pamela Lima - Spanish 87 ~ 87 / 100 Besides some minor technical and A.I. issues, Assassin's Creed Origins merges up as an astonishing, dynamic world where Bayek begins the history of the franchise. It surely represents a great way to celebrate 10 years of Assassin's Creed and a redemption chance for Ubisoft as a developer. PS4
COGconnected - Erin Soares 86 ~ 86 / 100 If you’ve been a fan of the series since the very beginning, let your faith in the series be restored, because Assassin’s Creed Origins is definitely the best title to come out of the popular series in a long time, if not ever. While there are still a few issues to be found within the game, the majority of problems found within the last few iterations in the Assassin’s Creed series have been replaced with nothing but beauty and adventure. Ubisoft has brought us a not only a captivating story in the perfect setting of Ancient Egypt but also a graphical masterpiece that is nothing short of breathtaking. PS4
DualShockers - Noah Buttner 85 ~ 8.5 / 10 Assassin’s Creed: Origins may not be as revolutionary of a release in the open-world, action adventure RPG genre as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt or The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but it does provide an expansive single-player experience, filled with hours of memorable content without having to purchase anything extra. Assassin’s Creed: Origins is the most memorable entry in the series in years, answering age-old questions like “why are assassins missing their ring fingers?” and is an excellent game to start with if you’re a newcomer. While the story wasn’t consistent in quality throughout the entire game — and I didn’t know what was going on or what the stakes were at times — it culminates in a payoff that any fan of the Assassin’s Creed franchise will nerd out about for a long time. XB1
Game Informer - Suriel Vazquez 85 ~ 8.5 / 10 Expanded progression, open-world freedom, and a fascinating backdrop make for an enticing origin story. XB1
Spaziogames - Yuri Polverino - Italian 85 ~ 8.5 / 10 Assassin's Creed Origins is a beautiful open world action-adventure game, a real reborn for the Ubisoft saga made possible by a fresh new combat and quest system. The story is passionate and the character of Aya is very cool. Perhaps the game is not perfect and had some trouble of game design, but we can surely say that is very good and a perfect way to follow for the next chapter.
PlayStation LifeStyle - Ahmed Mohamed 85 ~ 8.5 / 10 Assassin’s Creed Origins blew my expectations away in so many areas, but there’s still something missing that made the likes of Assassin’s Creed II and Brotherhood so special. However, this is most definitely the best title since then, and one that I’ll be jumping back into very soon. The new combat system makes for some incredibly satisfying moments, while the design of the world is only matched by the likes of The Witcher III. Ubisoft Montreal can be proud knowing that they’ve delivered a level of AAA-production that likely won’t be seen again until Cyberpunk 2077 rolls around, but there’s just that last leap of faith that needs to be made to once again deliver a generation defining game. PS4
SegmentNext - Omar Majeed 85 ~ 8.5 / 10 Assassin’s Creed Origins is a step forward but not a complete overhaul of the franchise.
Polygon - Colin Campbell 85 ~ 8.5 / 10 In essence, Assassin’s Creed Origins is much the same game as the original Assassin’s Creed, which came out a decade ago. It’s a formula that people like to play, and it’s certainly been honed and improved over the years. Origins is, then, undoubtedly the best iteration of this formula yet. But I yearn for a fresh approach and new ideas, something that astounds the senses as much as the wondrous world this game inhabits. XB1
IGN Italy - Gianluca Loggio - Italian 85 ~ 8.5 / 10 A new beginning for Assassin's Creed, with a lot of new elements. Not a perfect game, but a good open world with marvellous locations. PS4
GearNuke - Khurram Imtiaz 85 ~ 8.5 / 10 Assassin's Creed Origins manages to rejuvenate the series with a solid foundation built on a fun combat system. PS4
GamingTrend - Hunter Wolfe 85 ~ 85 / 100 Assassin's Creed: Origins is as much a departure as it is a homecoming. Revamped combat mechanics defibrillate the series with much-needed challenge. The guided open-world design encourages and rewards exploration unlike any Assassin's Creed game before it, and takes place in one of the series’ most memorable settings. But at the end of the day, and despite some growing pains, Origins is a culmination of the best aspects of the series. And for that, some hiccups in the transition to full-fledged RPG are a fair trade. XB1
Stevivor - Jay Ball 85 ~ 8.5 / 10 The best in the series, by far. PS4
Player. One - Zulai Serrano 85 ~ 8.5 / 10 Assassin's Creed Origins is a much-needed reboot for the franchise. Its massive areas to explore not only look better than ever, but will keep you entertained for for a long time.
Reno Gazette-Journal - Jaosn Hidalgo 85 ~ 8.5 / 10 Assassin’s Creed returns with a polished take on the franchise’s mechanics as well as stunning visuals and vistas that will make you feel like a virtual tourist of Ancient Egypt. The gameplay itself doesn’t stray much from the classic formula, which can be good or bad depending on your view of the series’ gameplay. Improved combat, however, combined with a nicely crafted world and an intriguing protagonist make Assassin’s Creed Origins a worthy entry in the long-standing franchise. XB1
PC Gamer - Christopher Livingston 84 ~ 84 / 100 A brilliant setting, new systems, and familiar features blend together for a strong prequel to the Assassin's Creed series. PC
TheSixthAxis - Gareth Chadwick 80 ~ 8 / 10 After taking a year off, Assassin's Creed is going through a transitional period and taking players back to the very founding of the Brotherhood in Ancient Egypt is symbolic of that. The vast new setting, the improved combat system and moving the series towards being a real action RPG have injected this series with a new life. PS4
Gaming Nexus - Randy Kalista 80 ~ 8 / 10 Origins was worth taking the year off. Egypt will be hard to top as a location. The series' dry, ironic, corporate sense of humor is still dull. But nobody can beat Assassin's Creed's architectural history lessons, even if you're still just stabbing folks and jumping out the window while you're sightseeing the entire timeline. PS4
GamingBolt - Pramath 80 ~ 8 / 10 Almost at the cusp of true greatness, but not quite there, Assassin's Creed Origins is nonetheless a rousing adventure that truly manages to reverse the franchise's momentum after the double whammy of Unity and Syndicate. PS4
Hardcore Gamer - Adam Beck 80 ~ 4 / 5 The extra year of development has helped Assassin's Creed as a whole, as Origins is the next level for the series. XB1
Worth Playing - Chris "Atom" DeAngelus 80 ~ 8 / 10 Assassin's Creed: Origins manages to be both experimental and safe. It tries a lot of new things, but it never ventures too far from the Assassin's Creed formula. There's a lot of potential in Origins, and it'll be exciting to see how the new features evolve in future games. Fans of Assassin's Creed should find a lot to like, and it may be time to revisit the battle between the Assassins and the Templars. PS4
Gadgets 360 - Rishi Alwani 80 ~ 8 / 10 All in all, there's more than enough to give Assassin's Creed Origins a go. Revamped combat, a fantastic representation of ancient Egypt, and a world crammed with things to do, Assassin's Creed Origins is a return to form of the franchise that has us optimistic on what to expect next. PS4
TrustedReviews - Jordan King 80 ~ 4 / 5 stars Assassin’s Creed Origins is the revitalisation I was desperately hoping for. My cautious optimism has been rewarded by an excellent open-world adventure that could lead to an exciting future for Ubisoft’s blockbuster franchise. While it lifts its finer ideas from other open-world titles, it executes them well enough to form a whole that entertained me for hours and hours. It’s a shame the narrative eventually jumps the shark, or this could have been something truly special.
Destructoid - Chris Carter 80 ~ 8 / 10 I was really torn in assessing Assassin's Creed Origins, as it hits several of the same lows as the rest of the series, with its sometimes uneven mission structure and janky physics. But given that they now have the formula down to a science and didn't rush it out the door, all of that is a little easier to deal with than its predecessors. It was a big risk trying so many new things at once, but it worked, and the setting carries it. PS4
Shacknews - Chris Jarrard 80 ~ 8 / 10 ACO has almost everything going against it, and somehow managed to win me over. Just moving along in the game world is rewarding on its own. PC
Attack of the Fanboy - William Schwartz 80 ~ 4 / 5 stars Not completely back to the drawing board, Ubisoft takes some of their better old ideas and blends them with new ones to make one of the best Assassin's Creed games to date in Assassin's Creed Origins. XB1
Leadergamer - Alper Dalan - Turkish 80 ~ 8 / 10 That's how you surpass your roots. PC
VideoGamer - Alice Bell 80 ~ 8 / 10 Assassin's Creed Origins has vastly improved combat and an astoundingly beautiful world to explore, but it felt a little afraid of going all in with its new direction. PS4
TrueGaming - خالد العيسى - Arabic 75 ~ 7.5 / 10 Assassin's Creed: Origins is a good gaming experience with a lot of content but the story failed to impress, and while the game changed a lot of thing, it didn't bring anything new for the open world genre. PS4
GameZone - Daniel R. Miller 75 ~ 7.5 / 10 Assassin’s Creed: Origins is truly unique compared to its predecessors, though as an Action RPG, it replicates many of the same mechanics you will find in its contemporaries. Regardless, it is a lovingly crafted world worth exploring. PS4
CGMagazine - Cole Watson 75 ~ 7.5 / 10 Assassin’s Creed Origins brings Ancient Egypt back to life with the best sandbox world Ubisoft has made to date. However, a half-baked combat system and poor RPG mechanics sour parts of the experience. PS4
GamesBeat - Stephanie Chan 75 ~ 75 / 100 Assassin’s Creed: Origins offers a rich world and a compelling story at first, but it’s waylaid in part by the repetitive side quests and a weaker second half. If you’re hoping to learn more about the Animus and Abstergo, then you’ll be disappointed because you’ll spend most of the game in ancient Egypt. But if you just wanted to show up and kill some dudes while touring the pyramids and gawking at the splendor of Alexandria at the height of its glory, then you’ll come away satisfied. PC
New Game Network - Alex Varankou 73 ~ 73 / 100 Assassin's Creed Origins does enough things differently to warrant a look, but there is still something left to be desired. It's a lengthy game in a huge and varied open world that provides a foundation for what's to come, but it doesn't quite offer the breakthrough that the series was probably looking for. XB1
Easy Allies - Michael Huber 70 ~ 3.5 / 5 stars Assassin’s Creed Origins isn’t the reinvention of the prolific franchise that many had hoped for. Instead, it refines the formula put in place a decade ago while telling an important story about the Assassins. Ancient Egypt is a compelling playground to explore, and the RPG elements make it easy to stay engaged. If you love the franchise, Origins is an easy recommendation. Just don’t except much change. Written XB1
GameSpot - Alessandro Fillari 70 ~ 7 / 10 In charting out a new storyline and the largest setting for the series yet, Assassin's Creed Origins makes a few stumbles along the way. PS4, XB1, PC
Paste Magazine - Garrett Martin 70 ~ 7 / 10 Like real life, this game will overwhelm you. The key is to find your own way through it as best as you can, whether it's beelining straight to the next key milestone or taking the time to wander and discover both your neighbors and yourself. It's a familiar adventure, but not a forgettable one.
Slant Magazine - Justin Clark 70 ~ 4.5 / 5 stars Assassin’s Creed has been reinvented, and while Origins doesn’t necessarily push the envelope, it does set a strong stage upon which future titles are better equipped to do so than its predecessors ever were. PS4
M3 - Viktor Eriksson - Swedish 70 ~ 7 / 10 With Origins Assassin's Creed is better looking and bigger than ever, but the series still has a long way to go in things like story telling and mission design. PS4
PC World - Hayden Dingman 70 ~ 7 / 10 There’s a wondrous world to discover (or at least a wonderful Egypt), an enormous sandbox with plenty of forward-thinking systems to build upon. Now Ubisoft just needs to find a protagonist to make the next journey worth it. PC
RPG Site - Kazuma Hashimoto 60 ~ 6 / 10 Embracing a more RPG approach, Origins's engrossing open world experience is marred by persistent glitches and a narrative that suffers from poor pacing. PS4
Digital Trends - Mike Epstein 60 ~ 3 / 5 stars Assassin’s Creed Origins is what happens when you make a game without a vision for how players are supposed to engage with it. So many of the changes made to the game feel as if they were made in a vacuum, without a question as to whether they make sense together in the context of a long-running series. Not all games need loot. Not all games need RPG mechanics. As this franchise turns the corner into a new chapter of its never-ending tale, its developers would be wise to keep in mind (and pay a certain reverence) to what made the series special in the first place. While Origins keeps alive its narrative, the series’ most important component, there are certain mechanical elements of the series that deserve the same unequivocal respect.
Metro GameCentral - GameCentral 60 ~ 6 / 10 A missed opportunity to reinvent the Assassin’s Creed franchise, which offers only incremental improvement and too many old problems. PS4

VGChartz - Daniel Carreras Unscored Unscored Overall, Get Even is an ambitious game that unfortunately never manages to deliver on any of its potential. It starts out as a horror experience, before slowly transforming into murder-mystery, but never capitalises on any one single theme and as a result feels a bit messy. I can’t help but imagine that, had the developers at The Farm 51 stuck to a single genre and delivered a more concise story, Get Even would've been a great title. By all means give it a try, but don’t be surprised if, should you finish it, you feel deflated and a little bit baffled. PS4
Eurogamer - Edwinn Evans-Thirlwell Unscored Unscored A trashy, overwrought psychodrama with the odd inspired touch that alternates between simple forensic puzzles and gimmicky gunplay. PS4
GameSoulz - Soul Unscored Unscored Overall, it may be possible to enjoy Get Even, if you´re a sucker for interesting story-ideas, exploration-fanatic and a graphic lover (I guess), yet, Shooter fans will definitely not be satisfied with it. PC
Rock, Paper, Shotgun - Alec Meer Unscored Unscored Get Even is a true original, of the kind we all too rarely see made with this degree of gloss, and I found it deeply interesting for all its stumbles. PC
Do You Even Game Bro? - Zach Jackson 90 9 / 10 Narrative-driven games are my thing; I love getting lost and emotionally invested in a game’s world and story to the point where I simply can’t put the controller down. It’s very rare that games elicit that sort of reaction from me, however, The Farm 51 have done that with Get Even. I cannot stress enough how immersive the atmosphere and sound design are, I was compelled from start to finish. It is a must-play game if you’re a fan of narrative-driven experiences. PS4
GamePro - Dominik Schott - German 88 88 / 100 A unique thriller, which tells a twisty story with unexpected gameplay ideas. PS4, XB1
The Games Machine - Marco Tassani - Italian 86 8.6 / 10 Get Even is an excellent psychological thriller, crippled by some uninspired and dull action sequences, and a weak enemy AI. Nonetheless, the plot and the way the story is told make for an excellent experience, one that is definitely worth enjoying. PC
PS Site - Krzysiek Kalwasiński - Polish 85 8.5 / 10 Get Even is one-of-a-kind experience, which will be appreciated by fans of the complex thrillers. With different styles of gameplay, great music & sound and heavy atmosphere, it is a must-play. PS4
Stevivor - Nicholas Simonovski 85 8.5 / 10 There are only a handful of titles that I come across that I would truly recommend gamers to experience — Get Even is one such example. If you enjoyed titles like Quantum Break and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, with an element of thriller thrown in, you’re sure to enjoy this.
God is a Geek - Chris White 85 8.5 / 10 Get Even tries to do too much, but rather than getting it wrong, it succeeds on many different levels. It blends styles within the first-person genre seamlessly, tells an ambitious story without tripping over itself, manages to scare you, and connect with you emotionally. The shooting is satisfying and exhilarating thanks to some smart enemy AI, and the Cornergun is a great weapon to use. I enjoyed Get Even a great deal; it takes you to a place you weren’t prepared for, and whether you’re happy about that or not, there’s no denying that this is a unique and fantastic video game you should all play. PS4
Game Informer - Javy Gwaltney 83 8.25 / 10 In spite of a handful of glitches and aged visuals, Get Even is an inventive and ambitious thriller that makes the most of its sci-fi inspirations. PC
Impulsegamer - Tory Favro 82 4.1 / 5 stars Get Even is going to be a surprise hit title in my opinion. It just has that certain something to it. I do think it will be one of those sleeper hits that many will miss, but hopefully fans of the genre get behind it and spread the word. It certainly deserves it. A lot of thought has been put into the game to make it something memorable. PS4
Hobby Consolas - Hobbyconsolas.com - Spanish 81 81 / 100 Playing Get Even is like ongoing brain surgery to change the zones related to memory. And even with some rough edges (the graphics), the sound treatment and the script makes the operation a triumphant success: an unforgettable experience. PS4
TrustedReviews - Simon Miller 80 4 / 5 stars Get Even refuses to be pigeon-holed at any point, and though some people won't be able keep up with the madness, for those that can it's an entirely unique experience. Bandai Namco may just have the most interesting game of 2017 here, and a potential huge cult hit. PS4
Areajugones - Juanma García - Spanish 80 8 / 10 Get Even is one of the biggest surprises of the year. Very original, and an outstanding story that hooks the player during the whole game. PS4
GameSpew - Robert Gammon 80 8 / 10 The developers have created a very interesting world in Get Even, and the brilliant atmosphere coupled with varied gameplay makes for a very worthwhile experience. PS4
BaziCenter - Morad Halimi - Persian 80 8 / 10 Get Even is a fantastic action adventure with solid story, great narration and a mysterious atmosphere that tells the story of Mr. Black and Mr. Red. There are some issues in graphical and gameplay departments, but nevertheless it’s a very satisfying experience that will keep your mind engaged about the fate of the characters. PS4
Spaziogames - Francesco Ursino - Italian 80 8 / 10 A dramatic story told in a very fascinating way. The shooting gameplay is quite a disappointment, but the high level of the audio, and the enthralling plot sets Get Even on high standards. PC
IGN Spain - David Soriano - Spanish 80 8 / 10 Get Even excels in ambience (narrative) and sound design, but it's very limited by game mechanics and graphics engine. PC
GameGrin - Calum Parry 80 8 / 10 Get Even is a memorable experience and a well-delivered psychological thriller. Music and audio design stand as its high point, alongside the visuals and gameplay creating an immersive atmosphere. It truly is The Farm 51's best title to date, and Bandai Namco was right to give them the extra time needed to complete it. PC
PCInvasion - Peter Parrish 80 8 / 10 Like Spec Ops: The Line and Alpha Protocol, Get Even is a flawed game whose strengths dwarf the mechanical weaknesses. Expect it to start popping up on podcasts or in long-form articles in the next few months, accompanied by the ever-present caveat “well, the combat bits aren’t particularly good” and then praise for almost everything else. It’s probably going to pick up 6/10 type scores in most places that aren’t here, and I can completely understand why. The shortcomings are easy to point out, but Get Even delivers a complex, non-linear narrative full of clever misdirection, shifting truths, and conflicted characters in a way few other games can match. PC
Hardcore Gamer - Kyle LeClair 80 4 / 5 Get Even may be a bit polarizing depending on how you want to approach things in terms of gameplay and what you hope to get out of it, but it’s advised that you see it all the way through, as the end result is a highly satisfying game with an engrossing story that delivers in creepy, emotional and thought-provoking moments that helps it stand out, especially with its more subtle presentation of morality in gaming. You can argue that it may not be one of the best action games of the year, even when it delivers a tense moment, but its enjoyable hunt for the facts and the eventual truth highlights it as a winning adventure game. It may look sloppy, but it’s pleasantly surprising and worth going in blind for. PS4
TheXboxHub - Gareth Brierley 80 4 / 5 stars If you like story driven first person adventure games, then you can’t go wrong with this. It’s inventive, brilliantly told and designed, with great voice over work. XB1
TechRaptor - Samuel Guglielmo 80 8 / 10 Get Even has some clunky mechanics, but has such a fantastic story that I wasn't that upset with them. Also it has a great soundtrack, some fun puzzles, and the CornerShot which is an awesome gun. PS4
COGconnected - Patrick Anderson 78 78 / 100 Get Even has no shortage of cool ideas and ways to appeal to different play styles – but the parts don't quite come together as a coherent whole. PC
Oyungezer Online - Utku Çakır - Turkish 78 7.8 / 10 Get Even glues players to their chairs with its amazing story and superb sound design. Even with its shortcomings, Get Even is a game worth to experience. PC
IGN Italy - Davide Ambrosiani - Italian 75 7.5 / 10 Get Even uses the FPS formula to deliver a touching and deep story. Despite some technical failings, the narrative and the sound make the trip worth to be made. PS4
EGM - Michael Goroff 75 7.5 / 10 Get Even is better as an experience than as a game, but it's an extremely evocative experience. Even still, what could have been a completely unique gaming experience is hampered by its desire to be a more action-oriented, generic thriller. XB1
Use a Potion - Daryl Leach 73 7.3 / 10 You’re not going to be blown away by what Get Even offers and it often lacks the polish that a triple-A title holds, but it does more than enough to justify a playthrough. If you fancy playing something a little different to the norm that’ll hook you in with its engaging story and entertaining gameplay, it’s certainly worth giving Get Even a try. PS4
Xbox Achievements - Richard Walker 70 70% A bold and interesting Inception-inspired crack at delivering a twisty turny story, Get Even succeeds in making exploration and collectibles enjoyable, while the later combat engagements prove to be a grind. Overall, however, Get Even is a fun, if somewhat convoluted, first-person yarn. XB1
PlayStation Universe - John-Paul Jones 70 7 / 10 A sometimes beguiling yet, frequently intriguing blend of first-person exploration and shooter genres, Get Even's uneven execution results in a game that is commendable for its ambition and relentlessly engaging narrative, but one which ultimately fails to come together in practice. PS4
TheSixthAxis - Jim Hargreaves 70 7 / 10 While it has its flaws, there's a uniqueness to Get Even we rarely see in video games today. Right away, The Farm 51 demonstrates its desire to be different, crossing between genres and actually taking a gamble. While it doesn't always pay off, we're still left with something both intriguing, experimental and, at times, thought provoking. PS4
GameSpot - Eddie Makuch 70 7 / 10 The Farm 51's psychological thriller tells a story you won't forget. PS4
TrueGaming - خالد العيسى - Arabic 70 7 / 10 If you're one to appreciate mysterious brain teasers with a touch of beautiful tunes, then you'll find a pretty fun story in Get Even at an inexpensive price point too. XB1
Cultured Vultures - Nicholas Monahan 70 7 / 10 Despite some significant deficiencies in the gameplay department, Get Even more than makes up for dull shooting and inconsistent, frustrating stealth with a well-told, genuinely emotional and thought-provoking take on the "enter memories/dreams" concept. At $29.99, it's well worth the 12 or so hours you will spend exploring its web of deceit and discovery, and you may appreciate a horror game where you get to just shoot all the crazies instead of running like a sissy. PC
Gameplanet - Chris Brown 70 7 / 10 Get Even is a strange game. It's almost schizophrenic in its execution, but The Farm 51 should be applauded for trying something different. It represents what I love about independent game development: it maybe a little rough around the edges, but it takes risks and provides a truly unique experience. For that I applaud it, even if I cannot unreservedly recommend it. PC
TrueAchievements - Mark Delaney 70 3.5 / 5 stars Get Even uses some light brushstrokes of cliches but ultimately paints a picture much more unconventional than it may at first seem. In both story and gameplay, your expectations will be subverted several times over. Not all of its risks pay off, but when they do they ensure the game is a refreshing addition to the medium. Part shooter, part exploration and investigation while always compelling, Get Even is the strange mashup of Saw and Eternal Sunshine we never knew we wanted. If you play games for story and can forgive some forgettable shootouts and visuals, Get Even may someday be a fond memory of yours. XB1
GamingBolt - Alex Jackson 70 7 / 10 Get Even is the core of a fantastic, provocative game that has the potential to be the kind of experience that only games could do, but that core gets rather frustratingly lost within decisions that would better fit within a box standard shooter that impudently goes after Call of Duty’s crown. This is a game and a team with potential, but with Get Even, you’re only getting a glimmer of that. PC
VideoGamer - Alice Bell 70 7 / 10 Get Even's use of layered sound and even more layered story is unsettling and great, but other awkward mechanics make this psychological thriller a bit less than the sum of some very fine parts. PS4
3DNews - Денис Щенников - Russian 70 7 / 10 One of the best stories in games for the last few years. Wish I could say the same about other parts of Get Even… PC
GamingTrend - Hunter Wolfe 70 70 / 100 Get Even is a respectable first-person shooter, sure. But despite finishing the game eager to start a second playthrough to experience the story with new perspective, the lack of player choice was a considerable disappointment. I felt duped for hunting down every piece of evidence during my time with Cole Black, because it didn't influence the truth that ultimately emerged. This omission reduces Get Even from an imaginative game to a passable one that made me feel I was watching a thriller film more than playing a game. PS4
NZGamer - Blair Loveday 69 6.9 / 10 Despite its flaws, Get Even is still a very worthwhile experience. The game’s narrative is a little predictable, but it’s told well. It builds tension unlike anything else, and uses jump scares sparingly to give maximum effect. It’s a great game, with unfortunate quirks holding it back – which will hopefully get patched out. PS4
PCGamer - Andy KElly 66 66 / 100 There’s genuine ambition and imagination on display in Get Even, and I wish I liked it more than I do. But I feel like it would have been better, and more focused, without the first-person combat—or at least a lot less of it. I’m compelled to learn more about Black’s past as I play, but then I have to kill or sneak past some guys and everything grinds to a halt. A confusing tangle of a game, then, but the mystery-laden storyline might just be enough to pull you through some of the weaker action moments. PC
JVL - Malcolm89 - French 65 17 / 20 With a minimalist gameplay and offering the worst experience ever seen in a FPS, Get Even nevertheless succeeds in making an impression. With a great atmosphere and a quality soundtrack, the game brings a sweet madness in our sessions. The narration and acting of the main characters fascinate us during this well-designed investigation, even if there are some clich's. With more open areas and a better technique, Get Even could have been one of the unforgettable games of our summer, but instead of that, even if it's not memorable, it will bring you a cheerful experience. PS4
Saudi Gamer - سندس الخباز - Arabic 60 6 / 10 Get Even is great game for mystery fans, the story is very unique and won't stop surprising you. Although the beginning requires some patience due to the slow rhythm and not having enough events going on. The graphics are not suited for PlayStation 4 and Xbox one, which makes it harder to fight dizziness with the first-person view. PS4
Metro GameCentral - GameCentral 60 6 / 10 A tangle of technical and gameplay issues often obscure it, but there’s some impressive storytelling to be had in this ambitious techno-thriller. PS4
GameZone - Cade Onder 60 6 / 10 Get Even falls short in a number of places such as its gameplay and its technical performance. The only saving grace of the game is the unique, well-told story but that can only carry it so far. PS4
** SA Gamer** - Marko Swanepoel 60 6 / 10 Get Even is a title that is polarising in its presentation. While the mysterious and choice-driven narrative along with the characters is hugely interesting, the gameplay is woefully deficient with a developer that clearly did not know which direction it wanted the gameplay to take. While messing around with different genres and styles, it failed to create its own identity. However, it is worth the playthrough for its narrative alone, but I do not recommend it at its full price, even if it is lower than usual. PS4
GameMAG - xtr -Russian 60 6 / 10 At first Get Even grabs your attention, but after a while you realize that before you only an imitation of a quality product with a completely unnecessary combat, boring story and dull characters. And this is for an intelligent psychological thriller just a terrible omission. PC
Critical Hit - Geoffrey Tim 60 6 / 10 It’s ambitious, imaginative and often intriguing and does its best to deliver something fresh and unique. Unfortunately, Get Even fails to nail down the fundamentals, resulting in a sadly disjointed, overwrought experience. PS4
Wccftech - Christian Vaz 55 5.5 / 10 Get Even's goal is to get the player to question what is real and what isn't. While it succeeds in achieving this, I can't help but feel that it may be slightly too vague to truly hook its players. You'll spend a lot of time reading newspaper clippings and other scraps of paper that will eventually build a complete picture, but I struggled to muster the willpower to locate all of that information. There is very little that entices me to revisit Get Even and although it wasn't necessarily a bad experience, it certainly isn't a Game of the Year contender either. There's no questioning that Get Even offers a different dimension to the first person shooter genre, yet it struggles to maintain the aspects that make it most unique, quickly devolving into a repetitive cycle. PC
PlayStation LifeStyle - Ahmed Mohamed 55 5.5 / 10 Get Even is almost afraid of what it could have been, settling for a more traditional horror experience instead of becoming what it really wants to be. The genre has been healthy in recent months, but a wildly different approach is always welcome and Get Even only accomplishes that in fleeting moments. PS4
The Outerhaven Productions - Veronica Ciotti 50 2.5 / 5 stars Get Even is not a bad game. In fact, there are moments where its storytelling and atmosphere really shine. However, it is held back by its gunplay, stealth, and at times an overly complicated plot. I felt relieved when all the pieces came together and the ultimate mystery revealed itself, but that doesn't excuse the confusion I had during much of the game. Perhaps the complex story could be forgiven if the game was a little more fun. It's unfortunate because there are elements of a good game in Get Even, but ultimately it tries to do too many things and only succeeds at a few of them. PS4
Push Square - Liam Croft 40 4 / 10 Get Even had a good base of neat ideas, but the execution of the overall product is so poor that many areas feel unfinished. Combat is quite simply a disaster, the graphics look like they've been taken from a 2008 PS3 game, and the soundtrack crushes your enjoyment far too often. The plot may well grab your attention, but the act of actually playing Get Even is nothing but a chore. PS4
